I got inspired to create this after I saw @INCC's thread.

I sometimes come across those brain training apps in the app store.

Do any of these actually work? Has anyone used them and noticed a difference?

What you training for?

Can't say I do.

But I play a quiz every Friday and do a crossword and word search daily.

Nothing fancy I feel that keeps me sharp up top.

Theoretically, they could work. The problem is often that they're littered with ads.

Those ads often distract you from what you're doing or outright get in the way of the training.

Sure, you could call concentrating past the ads as part of the training, but I recommend trying to download an emulator on your phone and play one of those old DS Brain Academy games instead. It's basically the same thing minus the ads.

My brother does the same thing, but he just plays old pokemon games.... sigh....

Some people notice small benefits (attention, short-term memory, etc.), especially in specific skills or older adults, but they’re not magic brain boosters.

I enjoy doing the NYT Wordle each day, while I doubt it has any significant impact on brain health I like to think it has minor cognitive benefits. @Zwielicht 's suggestion of DS Brain Academy is a great one, I really enjoy playing those and even on occasion we all play Big Brain Academy on the Switch together as a family.

Language learning is another fantastic option for cognitive health and there are boundless resources online to do it for free nowadays. High seas has good paid content as well e.g Pimsleur.. good for audio listening while working.
