Why do some companies make seasonal logos but others don't?

This got me thinking but what are the reasons some companies like Google will release seasonal logos and you have other sites that won't do this?

I know some places just don't celebrate the holidays and that's cool or whatever but I've been to some sites where they keep generically saying legal reasons are why they don't do it.

I think they assume that they are not pro enough with it and that clients think it is stupid. Personally I think it shows signs of humanity and it would make clients like them more.

I'm going to presume based on the post you linked to that you're asking this because of the other forum. They trademark their logos there and from what I was told when I worked there, part of that trademarking process means that they can't adjust their logo without causing issues where they'd have to go through the trademark process again, costing them money.

It's important to know that in some countries, any work you create is automatically copyrighted, but this isn't the same as registering a trademark. It's all bureaucratic but it's all for companies that feel the need to add an extra layer of protection to their branding and discourage (but not prevent) others from creating derivative work.

Well, here where I live it is cheap to trademark another variant logo, costs about $287 and it is for 10 years, so $29 per year .. very cheap, I think in BHW`s case it is more of a "not being pro enough" kind of mindset.

Edit, I saw that it costs about $227 (£170) in UK, cheap as F.

Yeah bro that's what I was thinking of. It's always excuses with them and gaslighting and shit so I don't know what's accurate from them.

LMAO that makes the trademark excuse makes them look cheap AF then.

Personally I don't like it.

A company should be impartial to whats going on. It has no opinion, no say nor thought as to what should be changing nor promoting. It's a business not a person. So im not a fan of seeing things change seasonal branding or not just because the company wants to appeal to a certain customer... sigh waste of time.

Sometimes its worth listing to the mass silence rather than those who have a voice.

For me seasonal logos .. no thank you

We know you don't like holidays 😂

Tbh I abhor Christmas so there's that 😂. Waiting for it to be over 😂.

It's being too commercialised for why many don't do anymore.

I think a lot of companies simply don't care. I really like it when companies do this, as it shows some sort of human touch and festivity as well.

I also got a Catholic surname, so putting any other religion stuff is not really needed for me
