Implemented Posting / thread derailing

Don't mean to be a grump.

Is there anything in place at the moment about derailing a thread or shit posting replies.

I'm all for fun and games and having a laugh and I'll be first to admit I can be guilty of it.

But I think in order for the forum to grow it needs to be stamped out now.

The prime example is all the ferret posts with replies to almost every thread with something about them.

Like if I start doing the same about vodka or we all post with our own quirks I don't get how anyyhing gets answered.

Not just that but forum growth is going to be limited no?

Ignoring a user doesn't resolve the issue either.

Any stranger coming here for advice and sees shit posts could and will get put off. I don't get how it helps this place thrive and grow.

It's only young but as this place hopefully grows it could become a major issue.

I knew when I opened this that the Ferret situation would be mentioned, it has been fun but I do agree that maybe now it needs to be pulled in a bit lol

If we added something in, I would prefer to do as @UnusualSubstance says and allow it thread derailing in The Saloons, but prohibit it in every other section.

We can add a clarification in under the spam rules (rule 1.4) that we already have. Notices/warnings can be if it's done excessively or if we tell a member to knock it off, but they ignore us and continue. We have an easy way of keeping track of how often we tell a member something without using the notice system, so this can work.

It doesn’t really bother me since I wanted this forum to be fun. Although, when it becomes excessive and takes away from the discussion threads outside of The Saloon, I’d rather have the moderation team gets those back on track.

This suggestion bas a lot of support, so I’ll continue thinking over how to handle this.

If something gets flagged just have a mod come in to warn the person or something. And do a 3 strike system.

Sometimes a conversation will naturally track off topic. It's just if somone is asking about seo and someone replies.
