I've got a page and a related group on FB - nothing huge, 100k followers on the page, about 200k members in the related group, which is really active.

About a month ago, I stupidly switched from the performance bonus scheme to content monetization to put ads on reels and stuff like that. Then I found out I still had an active copyright strike from a year ago - so I can't monetise reels. And now my reach on my normal image + text posts has dropped through the floor and I'm making about 2/3rds of what I was before the switch. I spent ages crunching numbers to work out how the FB algorithm gave reach for earnings and was kind of happy with that but the new content monetisation option has changed everything and it doesn't even let you see how much you're making per post now, so there's no way of knowing which ones are driving income.

Plus, my group is doing my head in. They keep plagiarising my posts, reusing my images or writing posts as if they were me and it's cannibalising the post audience. Thinking of just turning the group off because they're more trouble than they're worth and resist all attempts to monetise anything.

Has anyone else signed up to the content monetisation scheme? Performance bonuses used to work primarily on reach but something else is now happening and it's bugging me. Also, I just wanted to complain about FB.

Facebook always sucked when it comes to being advertiser friendly. You get random blocks on your Facebook Ads Accounts, Ads suddenly stop spending and there is no support whatsoever, even if you spend a fortune on Ads. It literally is one of the most frustrating platforms to work with, but it still is worth all of the hassle. If you think about the potential, you can still gain from it.

I have not used the content monetisation scheme, simply because I cannot be bothered with their stupid algorithm and restrictions on that too.

Yeah, I haven't used their ads, tbf but I was doing pretty well with the performance bonuses on page posts up until now - mainly because I'd save all the individual post performance in a spreadsheet and could reverse engineer what was happening. But now, I can't even see individual performances, so basically their whole programme seems to consist of "post crap loads of content on your page and we'll give you an undefined sum that we've somehow calculated". Which... ugh.

It was fun while it lasted but it's getting on time to move, I think. Just need to find out where the boomers are headed.
