Nintendo Switch 2

Can't justify purchasing into the Nintendo ecosystem any longer for a number of reasons. I've been a Nintendo fan since a young child, the NES was my second gaming console (first was ColecoVision) and I owned every Nintendo console including handhelds sans Wii-U since then.

Hardware quality has significantly dropped during Switch 1's run, I've had to replace 8 Joycons due to unplayable stick drift, I've had the Pro controller battery swell to the point it cracked the casing and now exhibit signs of drift as well, and I've run into issues with the console itself just straight not start until doing a hard reset. Yet, I still have original N64 controllers I bought in 96' that function to this day without issue.. Sure I can go third-party like 8Bitdo and use hall-effect sensors in the Joycons, but when I'm paying $100 per controller, I should not have to even consider this route.

Software side the pricing of first party titles has become higher and with lower quality in many titles (especially quasi-first party games like Pokemon). Extremely poor/lack of sales on titles. The UI and interface of the Switch is a sluggish mess as well, that I doubt is much improved in Switch 2.. Overall was a rather frustrating experience with the Switch 1 at times.

Add all that in with Nintendo's semi aggressive stance towards the gaming community for tournaments, streaming titles, and fanart/projects over the years they've soured their reputation with me.. perhaps one day I'll return but it won't be this cycle.

I would agree.

I got the Switch one had to replace two controller parts and I was not using it heavy by any means.

I noticed it struggle so much to handle many games such as Skyrim or many other games from from the Xbox or playstation.

I would guess only designed for like playstation 1 to 2 level anymore it can't handle well or at all.

Older style of games it works well but anything modern starts crashing often.

Switch 2 unless it's much better than number 1 it should sell to me for more like £200 to max of £300

I completely agree with all of this.

I used to really like Nintendo Games, but the company just ruined their own games. Tears of the Kingdom cost $70 and felt like DLC, their older Switch games cost as much as the new ones, and they deleted my sister’s account and offered no explanation as to why (meaning she lost access to some games she bought). The new games they release just aren’t worth purchasing when there are so many better options out there.

I know what you mean about the cheap hardware as well. I had to replace the joy-cons on @impulse’s Switch last year because of stick drift. I managed to repair them, but then they develop another issue where they just came loose. I ended up having to buy new joy-cons for her, and they’re really expensive.

Nothing beats the original Wii in terms of Nintendo consoles.

Wii was great at breaking the barrier for a lot more casual gamers. My girlfriend at the time and her friends that would typically never touch video games all enjoyed nights hanging out playing with my Wii (hue hue). But on a personal level, I feel the original Gameboy was a bigger moment in gaming.. Pokemon in your pocket and the ability to "easily" link up with other players to battle/trade was mind blowing at the time.

Boxing in Wii Sports was one hell of a workout. Breaking into a sweat just thinking about it
If you enjoy a bit of cardio, Thrill of the Fight with a Quest VR device is an amazing workout at home. I've gone full in on VR shadowboxing for my cardio workouts for quite a few years now.
