The end of SEO. Internet as we know it is dead. Internet 2.0 or Internet 3.0 here we come. It’s over.
Just some of the things I’ve had shared with me here and other places, posts I’ve seen and articles I’ve read how AI is going to change everything and kill off websites. Yup AI is coming well it’s here.
Sure I think traditional blogging and news or information type sites that have developed to just share news, and other crap are going to go away or suffer a major loss in traffic if they don’t adapt. I can see it coming.
In fact I think that’s here now. These type of sites I do honestly think have something to worry about but not so much yet, yes traffic might dip BUT they are still getting traffic – is it going to get worse? Who knows?
I don’t think it will get much worse – adapt or die. But I think the shock has kicked in and some of the 35% reports I seen with not much data to back it up (I’ve only seen speculation type reports) while is a ton of traffic I can’t see it getting worse.
If websites go, where does AI get news and event information from? We not reached that point yet, and I don’t think we will for years yet.
I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom yet though… I don't think AI is being adapted by the masses, your average marketing or IT guy or the contacts we might have and talk to all adapted and use it for a range of tasks. It's great. BUT if you speak to your "average" person like someone in the pub.
You will see they don't trust it. They won't use it and will still scroll and click a link. Go ask any random non IT person ask a bunch and you will see.
You see tons of people saying it will kill things off it won't. It can't we are not ready for it. Sure its scary but that's supposed to be the fun side of it as well.
It's easy to spread doom thats what we do. I just cant see these things ending as quickly as the social posts and blogs I get shared with claim. If it did why we do we still have TV or Paper Adverts. Why do we still have newspapers printed? Why the news?
It takes a mass amount of generational changes and adaption to wipe something out or even for it to get adapted. Look at cars I think from the invention to mass adaption (after WW2) that was 59-62 ish years whatever it was that's a LONG time.
Sure things will change but it's always ever evolving and adapting the time it gets to the point of killing your website off there will be the new thing here to build and feature on.
Yes it's scary, I get worried for my own company. But every journey is scary.
Will things change? Yes
Are things changing? Yes
Is the web or website going to side? No, not yet. Not for a long time.
