Rosh Hashana is the holiday that represents the Jewish new year.
So here's the last sunset of the year 5785, and I want to wish us all that 5786 would be a hell of a lot better.

Rosh Hashana is two holidays back to back. So yesterday was the evening of the first day, today is the first holiday, and this evening is the 2nd holiday evening.

Jewish date is changed at sunset.

Ahhh I get it, it's like Sylwester for last day of the year and New Year is on first day of the new year

It kinda is, except that 's not just this one. All the holidays start in the evenings and last until the end of the next day.
