Do you think AI will replace writers... or just the bad ones?

I’m not as deep in the content writing game as I used to be, but I was curious to hear some opinions on this topic from others here.

AI tools have made it ridiculously easy for anyone to generate “content” now, and that’s been a big problem for a lot of writers who are suddenly seen as replaceable. Clients who just want cheap filler can get it instantly. No need for a human anymore.

I personally think AI is going to replace the bad writers. I got tired of the industry a while ago because it felt like anyone with a decent grasp of English thought that was all it took to be a writer. But with AI, it's forcing anyone who wasn't a good writer to either leave the industry or adapt. You can't just write anything now -- you actually need to understand structure, research, marketing, and SEO if you want to stay relevant.

Curious what everyone else thinks. Do you think writing will still be a viable service in a few years, or is “AI-assisted” just going to become the standard?

Saw an article yesterday about the subject, AI generated content has gone by manual content now, but most top 20 ranking content in search are from manual writers, draw your own conclusion. It was an article on one of the stats sites, don`t remember the url though.

It's going to replace low-level writers for sure.

However, AI content is still something that can be detected and isn't as preferred as some people might think.

That's an interesting read, thank you for linking to it. It wouldn't surprise me if there really is a plateau in how many AI articles are getting written compared to human content. There are quite a few people that are adamantly against AI and won't use it no matter what, so I imagine that skews things a bit.

The good writers will always have a place.

Some will only want human written content as they will be against machine content.

Low-level writers, of course. There’s no reason to use such content when we have AI today. You could literally write everything yourself and have AI correct the grammar and other issues. Good writers are still needed, though, since AI sometimes makes mistakes as well, so I still see a market for them.

I think it's down to how you use it. Like anything and everything else.

I'll be honest in work I've binned 3 writers and replaced them with AI. I just got 1 good AI person who can prompt half decent, inject our own research and findings and then get AI to generate the rest.

About half of it gets edited when the AI goes off on one and adds things like conclusion, summary, final thoughts that kind of bollocks at the end. But we turn out a ton of AI content all of it ranks, most of it is page 1 and has the snippet as well as AI overview.

It's just down to how you use it.

I think that good writers should embrace AI and offer lower priced service. AI written with a professional eye that makes sure it's as good as it can be.

I can bulk generate thousands of articles in minutes, I can get them auto posted.

Are they as good as factually researched, hand crafted cont? Not at that sort of scale, AS YET!

With the progression in prompting etc, things will only improve over time.


I read an article on Ruck website naming the 15 hardest rugby players, recently.

I knew it was Ai content, as the idiots had named 2 players twice and given them different places in the top 15.

Also, all 15 players were given a supposed nickname, that they were all know by, again this was utter garbage.

Yeah, I feel the same. Low-level content just isn't worth paying a human to write anymore, but it still has a place.

Do you have any writers left or is content just being handled by the AI prompter who can edit the output?

Yep, there are too many people saying AI is no threat because it isn't any good. Given how much it's progressed already, it's pretty clear it can get a lot better than what it is currently.

Well the content I'm doing for the journey aside.

Most of the work stuff is super technical at the moment as we want to skip a customer type.

So lots of our content is based off internal data.

So we have a range of prompts to create what's needed. The ai been trained in our writing style and tone so what comes out is pretty much on point brand tone wise.

The person who does all the prompting can write. Is no professional writer tho.

It's just down to what writers charge what they can produce and what we can turn out in the same time frame.

Don't get me wrong our ai has about 100+ hours of training and documents to fall back on. So it's not like I loaded up the chat and said do x based on y keyword.
