I've gotten some really crap SEO advice over the years even from seasoned marketers.

People telling me back in my early days to just add the keyword as much as I can into a single article. Mind you guys this was well after 2004 when those strategies were already dying or just straight up DEAD.

It got me thinking that all of you probably have some stories about garbage advice you've gotten over the years.

Well anyone telling me to take PageRank seriously in these times is a nutter.

"I will perform white magic" he thought talking like pretend magician made sense to anyone

I did shitty things in my early years, some of them still needed to be fixed.

My worst mistake was not doing KW research.

worst SEO advice is "write about things you are passionate about"
I agree with this with a BUT...

I've written some really off-the-wall articles that have just been for my own research, it's funny the kind of wiered geeky kind of person that tends to find you from that.

To the OP. I've never followed any advice. I've stuck to the basics, focus on user first and do what I want and with time it works. Problem is no one really wants to wait.
