Let's Talk About 3D Printing

I mentioned in my weekend gardening thread that I 3D various components.

Actually, because I used up all of my 3D printed seed pods for my Aerogarden, I've started making more today.

Here are the pods printing in my setup that I keep in a closet in my computer room.

Does anyone else do 3D printing here? What's your set up like and what do you use it for?
 
Maaaaaan I landed a Sunlu S4 filament dryer for my combo, definitely suggest one for your setup

Can box to spool

Is it worth ? Compared to buying a pods just from a local/general gardening store.
 
It's been a few years since I last printed.. been traveling around again and not exactly luggage friendly to haul a printer with you :ROFLMAO:

I owned a Prusa MK2/3s and used it for all sorts of stuff. D&D terrain set pieces, minis, little gifts for people. At one point I got really into designing parts in AutoCAD Inventor and even built a small foundry to do sand casting with 3D prints as molds.. had the crucibles, aluminium ingots, blower setup.. the whole shebang. I started designing ideas for PC simulation racing components e.g stick shifts, custom pedal systems, steering wheels, and custom button boxes wired up with arduino mini boards. Was really considering growing it into a business, but between the manufacturing time, shipping costs, overhead etc.. and the thought of needing to stay in one place for more than a year or two.. I ended up shying away from the idea. Now all that stuff is sitting in storage in another country.

I'd really like to get back into it at some point, I just need to settle in one place first. Perhaps it'll be my old man 'retirement' hobby business.

It's worth it terms of convenience. The local gardening stores also don't sell pods that fit, or they sell just these dirt pods, and I don't need those.

In terms of money, pods for these Aerogardens are very expensive for what they are, so it's worth it in that regard.

I also can grow more variety using seeds I already have, so I don't have to go searching and hoping that a pod maker has the specific plant I want to grow.

That's pretty neat! We've designed some things in Blender that we later 3D printed, and it's nice being able to make it all from scratch like that.

I had a similar idea at one point about turning it into a business, but I didn't have the time back then and the costs of actually setting up a 3D printer farm were outside my budget.
 
Bamboos

Printing small products and it mainly gets usd for the corporate side with a bespoke marker.

Testing concepts of new products and rapid prototyping.

Got a farm in the process of being set up for production later this year at scale.

I think I've shared with some here photos of a product Im going to deploy.

I've also come up with a few other products that I'd not be able to develop without 3d printing.

As we can run 1. test t it and refine all within a day (almost)

Then send out for feedback and make alterations. Going traditional route the cost to entry would be too high
