I found an interesting video from someone who got their hands on two smuggled North Korean Smartphones.

There is a lot of censorship in their autocorrect when texting. Apparently you can't write South Korea without it being autocorrected to 'Puppet State', and Kim Jong-Un's name will be bolded automatically.

Also, instead of Samsung, they have Samtaesong.

It can be easy to forget about North Korea, but occasionally you hear about what is happening over there and remember how insane their dictatorship is.

(On a side note, I'm not sure what prefix to give this thread  Would this be considered Android? I've just left it blank.)

Is Berry on to something

Do we start shipping nokias to the north?

Ohhh I watched it a couple of months ago, really insane.. the level of control they have over citizens is nuts.

it’s so weird that the phone has so many features that are just broken! Im guessing it’s because its Android at the base and they just break the features instead of removing them since they’re too ingrained in the system.

Which features are broken?

It's in the video. When he clicks the wifi button it doesn't work. He was saying it's because they don't have wifi in NK because they have an intranet and not an internet.

The wifi button is still there though and when you press it nothing happens.

Really interesting. North Korea really tries everything to keep its citizens from thinking that life could be better in another country. I hope that someday more and more people will realize that they are prisoners in their own country and will actively oppose the government there.

There is a YouTube channel I can recommend when it comes to North Korean content and news. It’s called “ASIAPRESS Rimjingang” (https://www.youtube.com/@ASIAPRESSrimjingang). They regularly share current news about North Korea and even have sources inside the country itself. The hidden videos they recorded back in the early 2000s are devastating to watch. I have to admit that I had to stop eating at one point after watching one video, as there were small children with no food at all who were picking individual noodles out of the dirt and eating them. Absolutely heartbreaking to watch at times.

That is diabolical to say the least.
