This is a pretty interesting read about what was referred to as the densest city on Earth.

Here’s video going over it as well.

Maybe it's just me but it would've been really cool to see something like that in person. I know it's not fun for the people living there but what I read about it talked about how tight knit the communities were.

It was a major influence of the cyberpunk genre. I lived and worked around the Hong Kong area for a good number of years, it was obviously torn down by then, but the city is one of my favorites in the world.

There are some movies that were filmed there before it was demolished, a favorite of mine being Bloodsport.

Interesting that this is brought up here. I’ve always been interested in the Walled City of Kowloon. Fortunately, but also unfortunately, the walled city no longer exists, as it was demolished for safety reasons, I believe. But it’s still fascinating how many people lived there and how things actually worked there.

That's an entire isolated community in its own ecosystem, with own artificial government. It'd be cool to live in such a place in an ideal world where the governing party cared about the community but alas, the reality isn't like that. They must have zero sanitation, zero civility, prostitution at its highest, maybe even cannibalization.
