Do you take 10min out to just meditate or sit in silence with no distractions during the working day?

I've started to do this, sit in silence, close my eyes and just reflect and try to relax and focus back up.

Turn off the volume so can't hear email alerts, just try to shut off the world for a little moment of peace.

Found it's become helpful when you have things coming from multiple angles, just lets you refocus and get back into the mojo of working.

I do that for 10 hours a day.

What are you on about!

Why do you work 300 hours monthly.

I rest 300 hours monthly.

Nope, never meditated in my life, being alone in silence seems bogus to me, I rather sleep 20 minutes to gain some energy.

Flow state is what you need. Meditation can put you in flow state, but only for expert monks - for me doesn't work well.

Are you workaholic?

Nope.

Flow state, WTF is that, if I need energy, I sleep .. the rest is just fancy words for something hyped.

Flow state? Feeling passionate, artistic, creative while doing something.

It's popular word in contemporary psychology, especially girls.

Like you know, feeling when watching a good movie or having good s...

I would go to Spotify for some relaxation and will go to my wife after getting married

This is a good way to collect yourself, especially if you’re under stress.

One thing you can do alongside this is make sure there aren’t any annoying noises your brain needs to filter out. Noises like fans and humming electronics tend to be the worst for me, so when I need a break, I turn everything off in the house that I can.

If you have things you can’t unplug like the refrigerator, the best thing to do is go outside in your yard or go to a park or an open field.

Having moments of peace is more important than most realise.

I have meditated before, but I have a really hard time meditating because I end up getting bored, or it’s extremely hard for me to get into a meditative state.

Very underrated... I probably should do more of that but I'm quite restless so I end up walking around in circles or with music instead. Good thread.

Interesting thing I found is that each place I visit has different sounds. Sri Lanka is like having relaxation tape on all the time, nature sounds - birds, squirrels, frogs, water sounds, a bit of road sounds, generally soft sounds. Kuala Lumpur had this rhytmic city hum, like all sounds coming together, it was actually really confusing at first and I had to mask it with music 😂. Later got better and I wasn't as confused.

Naps are nice too lol.

I wouldn't even call it meditate I dont think. Possibly is, I don't try and sit there and mantra or even focus on breathing or something mundane so the rest of my brain can turn off.

I just try to switch off for 5-10min more so when it comes in all directions. I find it's helping me to refocus during the working day.

Just forget about the problems and just zero back in on myself. Probably the same as when I used to just get up and got for a 10min walk - I should do that I guess than just sit by my desk.

I have 200 1 sentence personalized mantras written and made an app with them, so they're displayed one by one. I read them all. It's beautiful. It's simple. It makes me feel better.

If its a sunny day outside, more frequent now, I sometimes take 10-15 minutes sitting in the balcony to reset. Then 10-20 minutes writing down thoughts and ideas in a notebook still on the balcony, works great :)

I found the best type of meditation lately.

Staring at someone you like for 20 minutes.

Amateurs can try differently... close their eyes when someone they like whispers something to their ear.

Let's make it monetizable

I remember there was this YouTube channel of a guy whose videos used to receive like a million views each and guess what he used to do in every video?

Just stare at the screen for 30 mins 🤣

I call this "having a wank"

But otherwise, yes, I use to meditate here and there. I have been neglecting it lately, but it does help to collect yourself and clean your head. Relieve some anxiety as well.

But to be frank, going outside for 5 minutes and having a cigarette is much more effective. Shame I quit years ago.

We don't even know what real meditation was, like the first meditation invented.

Today we have 1000 types of meditation...

You can come up with your own like I did. :)

I usually meditate with her in the morning...

Then ask her couple questions and listen to music.

I'm smiling all day in result. :)

I didn't have that positive vibration effect from vipassana or something else - those mostly stimulated my emptiness...

Christian meditation helped me to sleep at night, but then I became freaked out... and I stopped believing in christian god. I replaced it with mantras and affirmations.

I think microdosing shrooms and meditating is cool. I don't do it because I have fcked up head, so I meditate on sodium valproate and risperidone... feels better than shrooms to me, doesn't give me anxiety. I recommend to all schizos! Just stare at something beautiful, be it art, another person with good makeup (face is canvas in this case).

When I feel tired and my self esteem plummets, staring at affirmations feels good, while keeping my eyes half.open. Really helps. Incredible zen stuff. Therapist taught me this. I have a 300 page long DBT therapy book with techniques like this my Marsha Linehan.
