Income I'm Doing A Yard Sale Today

So, what was rge hourly pay for the day so far? Yardsales seems like a waste of time to me if you don`t count the social thingy.
A bit after 7am to a little before 12pm.

$6/hour.

California minimum wage is $16.9/hour.

They can pretty good sometimes. Fridays really are not the best days for them.

During one yard sale I had back around 2018. I ended up getting over $300 after only a couple of hours. I only did it for those 2 hours, so $150/hour was nice.

Other yard sales usually only made me $100-$150. The worst one before this one got me $50.

They can be a waste of time, but we use the time we’re out there to sort through our belongings, clean the yard, and do other work. In this case, the yard sale is just an extra thing and a way to get a little something for stuff we’d otherwise donate to Angel View.

Yeah, I rather have you add a banner at $500 a month on the right side up top on the forum than see you waste your day like this, enjoying your time doing something you like instead like a nice hike with your girl or something like that.

Nah, it’s fine, I know we cut it short today.

I don’t have Facebook for FB Marketplace, but I did list some of the yard sale items on Nextdoor during the week.

I’m planning on listing the spare electronics on Craigslist. I’ve not had many good experiences with Craigslist, although it’s been better for electronics than Nextdoor.

what you got left to sell?

what you got left to sell?
  • Some old clothes
  • Computer components (DDR4 ram, GPUs, our previous gaming monitors)
  • A portable A/C we no longer need since I fixed the insulation issues for the room it was in
  • Adjustable weight dumbbells I got last year but didn’t like
  • A portable dishwasher (the attachment doesn’t fit the new sink…)
  • Some misc stuff like pet bedding for pets we no longer have.
I might sell some of it on eBay at some point as the prices for some of those used goods, like the DDR4 RAM, is far better than I’d get anywhere else.

It’s not urgent to get rid of and the cages were really the most unsightly things. However, we’ve been planning on moving out of California for a little while now, and it’s looking like that’s the route we’re going, hence the downsizing.

I think a 16GB kit goes for around $50-$100 where I live, at least on OfferUp.

We have about 8x8GB sticks.

It’s just some KayTee paper bedding from when we had hamsters, rats, and mice.
cat stuff?
Maybe, actually. That reminds me that I have a spare automatic litter box out in the garage. We got the cat a better one last year, but we should probably sell the old one.
Whats a portable dishwasher? bowl and sponge?
I meant a countertop dishwasher.

It’s something people usually get for apartments since they’re compact.
Whats a portable AC? fan?
It’s those AC units on wheels that cool down single rooms. It has a fan setting, yeah.

Do you post to UK
No. :(
What size clothes?
“Tiny”, apparently.

Did you ask all of that just to see if I’d answer. ;)

Reality of not having a job at someone's company! What are we doing to ourselves!

You sure you want to do that again tomorrow? Maybe yard sales just aren't worth it anymore?

Yeah, I'm sure. Regardless of how it goes tomorrow, we might skip Sunday, though; I don't think I need a third day to clean out the garage.

Something I do want to say is that I don't generally put a cash value on my day; I value my day based on how productive it was for me. Whether that be through learning something new, experiencing something worthwhile, making progress on a goal, having a story to tell, or just enjoying the day.

Out of today (so far), I just have a story to tell my family later today, which I'm sure they'll enjoy as we all like bitching about people.

Anyway, the main thing is that we just wanted to see what we could sell instead of donating like we usually do. We got $30 out of some cages that were, quite frankly, an eyesore for us these days. It's not a lot, but I needed to clean up the yard and sort out stuff in the garage anyway, so putting the extra stuff on the driveway so someone could potentially buy it saves me a trip to Angel View later (those gas prices, you know...).

This is black hat fire!!! 🔥
No amount of cash translates to good amount of emotions and 50 unique ideas.

What an adventure, huh? Hard to not punch some of these people in the face, especially since it's offline so it's possible 😂.

It's true that probably anything would be better $ per hour than this, but like you said you'd have to get rid of these items anyway so it's better than 0... Tbh in my case I probably realized there's stuff that I wanted to buy but I apparently don't have to. I don't have to shop, that's savings too but I still need money so let's get more clients eh. Costs of *international* move can get a bit high so just having less bulk is saving money so what doesn't sell I'll try to give to our maid and the rest or just unpresentable clothes will land in the fire, happily adding up to global warming. So if we end up moving out completely then it'll be cheaper because less items for sea or air transport or if we end up keeping this as vacation house / 'lifestyle base' then it'll also be cheaper to keep some items here and have like a wardrobe room here and take some clothes with us on a plane and get them to another country, maybe even couple times over time since we'd traveling back and forth in this version. It's confusing af but I've seen people having business/tax base that they stay in minimum 183 days in a year and the rest they party in Asia. Whatever the fuck I do our costs will go up and I can't do anything about it but I'll try to keep them as low as possible and keeping this place at least for a while is practical and you know I also like the idea of spending at least +/- half the year in the tropics.

Ehhh I had this Jehova's witness woman try to convert us, she gave us some food (yeah, it was that bad when I went bankrupt in Poland). It was kinda hilarious because her laptop broke right in the middle of her showing us some religious video so apparently small intervention from above, even god was sick of these people trying to convert us 😂. I swear I didn't do shit, it just suddenly became impossible to evangelize us 😂.

I remember how traumatizing it was during our move to Lanka, but it ended up happily (even if just for 2+ years) so I hope it won't be that bad to you even if right now it feels terrible. I wonder how much differences are there between each state 😂, theoretically it's one country but each state has it's own culture, no? Don't be offended by fat douches telling you that your clothes are small, good for you, it's obvious you're not a fat ass that eats McDonalds all day long.

Anything cool for delivery I wonder

I'm assuming you still use your nozzles and filaments

Fr tho, we all know you do everything to make this place high quality, it's not spammy to put up some more advertising.

Okay, I meant to update this earlier, but today was quite busy.

We started at 7AM and a had a bunch of people come by. We expected Saturday to be better, although as it turns out, there are video game collectors around here.

We sold some of our older consoles and video games for the PS2, PS3, and PS4. The total for today is $250. For those of you interested in the hourly rate so far, $125/hour. Keep in mind we're still cleaning out the garage today, so this is just a thing to do on the side of that.

Much better than yesterday so far.

Okay, we're getting hagglers again now.

The last several people who stopped by did not subvert stereotypes.

For instance, we have these oil-filled radiators. They work very well. We said he could take them both for $20. He just left in his beat-up van. He can freeze this winter, then.

One lady who stopped by thought $50 for the 8,000 BTU portable A/C that comes with all the accessories was too much. She did not understand this and I explained it in very simple terms: "It can cool down a large room". She said, "Lah-r-ge rOUm?", though about it, and then left. She can burn this summer.

Total for the day $270

I nearly forgot to mention, another video game collector in a red shirt came by. We set up at 7AM as we got up a little later and I took my sweet time getting ready, but apparently in some yard sale group, someone mentioned we were a no-show. He corrected this for us in the group and we got more people coming by.
