This is such a huge problem in Poland. A lot of people take free money from the government and they're easily controlled, dumbed down and support the system. Meanwhile entrepreneurial people have to pay huge taxes to provide for everyone else and basically live in constant fear of tax authorities. Poland is very unfriendly for business for local entrepreneurs. Also trusts (fundacje rodzinne) didn't exist in Poland before 2023. So no proper vehicle for passing down your money to your family was available. I mean people were doing it with workarounds anyway, but generally Poland hates entrepreneurs, makes sure they don't pass their fortunes onto their heirs and is pro-communism. As in - make everyone equally broke and unhappy and dependent on money given away by the government. There's actually a lot of entrepreneurship in the nation but government seems to prefer to make us all broke, dependent on money they give out and export us as cheap slave labour to Germany and UK.
I don't think the point you mentioned is a real problem in poland.
I grew up in a social capitalism and everyone had a good life.EVERYONE.
There where rich people who made their fortune from businesses and workers happy to work as the benefit for working granted them a nice life.
Everyone was happy till the transfer of wealth started and workers systematicly changed to cheap working power.
Poland is controlled by a small ethnic group (non christians) who do for a very long time wealth transfer inside Poland.
The spending for social needs is only 5% of total budget.
The rest is being used to transfer wealth to their own people.
A good example A4 in Poland.Paid by taxpayers rented for peanuts to the polish billionaire who makes every year a killing and bought back in 2027 by taxpayers money again when knowing the income will crash because of C19 2.0.
Have a look at the leaders of all major political parties.All non christians in a christian country.
Have a look at judges in poland.Majority either from a specific group with communist/leftist world view and europe has no problem with it as the EU
is fully communist.Ex president of EU Baroso was in KPP (Kommunist Party Portugal) ,last german channelor Scholz was before SPD also in a communist group.Angela Merkel from a communist country and party SED .
Thats why smart people with some wealth leave the EU to protect their assets as communists treats their assets like their property they can manage.
However even i agree with you as poland has a big part of leechers poland at the same time is very conservative compared to western countries,have big national proud and more important are able to stick together in important events.
I hope this won't change.Also poland is now the new main vassal of the USA in europe so it will outperform rest of europe as the new leader together with west ukraine.

1987 was a show for the dumb crowd.
Walesa was a spy of the communist party and leader of the rebels (solidarnosc).
It was a controlled change of system from offical communist people to non offical communist people to change the countries system.
It was ordered in 1987 by Gorbatschow in 1987 to all Eastern europe countries including DDR.
But Erich Honecker refused and got in 1989 a final warning to merge within 12 months.
Why did they do that ?Because at communism every property is state owned which means owned by the public.

. I do agree it outperforms Western Europe on many things, but that's due to the people (that are oppressed), it's shocking that the country is doing so well with how politicians destroy it on a daily basis.
