Feb 27 (Reuters) - OpenAI said on Friday it is raising $110 billion in a blockbuster funding round that would value the ChatGPT maker at $840 billion, in a deal that signals the feverish pace of investment in artificial intelligence.
The funding round includes a $30 billion investment from SoftBank, $30 billion from Nvidia and $50 billion from Amazon and comes ahead of the AI startup's expected mega-IPO later this year.
I could be wrong but I thought Open AI was scaling back its investment requirements or was it meeting it's growth targets? I'm uncertain which.
I think Open AI is now valued at $730b after this investment news, not bad for a company that's only spending money. Shame they didn't all work like that.
I also think this is Amazon first time investing with them as well? (not 100% on that)
