Implemented Any way to block users?

Bros I know there's a ignore feature but that's not good enough sometimes.

Is there a way to block a user so that I can't see his posts and he can't see mine? Like a perma 2-way ignore you know? Like on FB where when you block both users are invisible to eachother.

Just throwing that out there.

Well, there's a feature we've had here for a couple of months, but only moderators would be able to use it as it's not something we can enable for members to use directly.

It functions similarly to what you described: it's a 2-way block, so neither user can see each other's content or DM each other.

I mostly forgot about it, but I suppose I can just finish running the last few tests to make sure it works correctly. I'd prefer only enabling this if it received 7 upvotes, but if it does, I could write a site guide letting everyone know that they can request a block using the support desk under specific circumstances. I'd need some time to work out what those circumstances are exactly, but we just wouldn't want someone blocking the whole forum for the hell of it.

Just for my own reference later:

• Enable the block feature.
• Write a site guide on the block feature.
• Add a Block User category to the support desk.

OK on one hand some people might say this is a public forum and people shouldn't block eachother. On the other hand I can ignore a thread here so I should be able to ignore someone I really don't want to deal with. It's not bad to block a phone number you know? Other social sites let you block users so I think this is basic functionality that's needed.

Maybe just add something in that if a user requests a block or something that they aren't allowed to comment about that other user if you know what I mean. Maybe that might be alot to moderate idk but that's just my 2 cents.

You can click ignore.

Before there used to be a notification that an ignored person replied to your thread or post and you could then toggle the ignore on or off to see that reply. But that feature was requested to be removed because some people couldn't handle not pressing the button.

They can see your posts, can't DM, but you get no notification if they replied to you.


Don't really see the benefit of a 2-way ignore system. Or why you would want that person(s) not seeing your posts if you don't know they replied to you in the fist instance.

Yessss please! This works really good on fb actually. Which also has public groups. After blocking they can't see my posts and badmouth me in comments under my posts, very practical. They disappear to me and I disappear.

Yeah but a logged off user would still be able to see your posts as well as alts. It doesn't solve it completely, but a step in that direction.

I don't get how that helps though? Because then people would open a private window and see the posts and probably get triggered.



I think ignore works perfectly fine now. I had ignore tags for ferret & polecat and it worked. I think if anyone is tempted to press unignore to see someone you have a problem with. The issue is more to do with you.

The mods have said plenty of times just ignore someone. They even removed the un-ignore button to stop people getting triggered.

If you keep unignoring it's no longer the forums fault nor the person you got beef with.

It's trying to solve a problem that doesn't really exist.

I was thinking over what I wrote earlier, and instead of requiring special circumstance for a block, we'll just see how it goes for now.

This will be worked on later today. For now, I take it those of you who upvoted this have members you want to 2-way block. Just submit a support ticket here and mention which members you want to 2-way block.
