Are there any AI data centers being built near you?

I just found out there is an ai data center that’s being built near my home.

My parents are saying it’s a bad thing but I thought more data centers would be good to build up ai infrastructure.

Is it really that bad though? Does anyone have an ai center near them?

There's one being built near where I live.

The local electric company sent out a flyer stating that the extra costs will be passed on to us. This is on top of the recent rate increases that have been occurring over the last couple of years.

The electric company where I live can barely handle what they already have and aren't planning on upgrading their equipment for the next decade, so you can imagine why nobody where I live is happy about this.

I'm going to take a guess and say your parents are likely upset about the same thing.

Not yet, but I doubt I’ll be this lucky in the near future, since it seems like a lot of the land is being actively bought to build data centers on it.
