So, what have you written down this year that you want Santa to give you, anything fun?

I just go buy what I need so I don't ask for anything.

Although I'm about to submit a bid for a building which I would like them to accept, it's a lot A LOT of money so I don't really want to buy it. But would good to get it also, as I need it, it's just a ton of money. But if it dont happen it's not meant to be.

If some of you want to have a laugh at me, I’ve been using a workstation CPU on a gaming PC, without knowing.

I’ve never been able to find out why I’m getting ~30-40 less frames that others with a similar setup.

I have a Ryzen 5950x paired with a 3090TI. That specific CPU, while high end & exceptional, is better fit for workstations.

I’m pining for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D which is a significant improvement.

How's this Santa's problem? Or did he provide you with defective pc to start with?

You building your own solar rig?
Sort of. Nothing large enough to power the whole house, but I liked the idea of having a small 50W-100W setup in my backyard.

The electric bill in my area is ridiculous, so even taking some of those small devices off of it would help out. Those smaller setups are fairly cheap as well, so they'll pay for themselves eventually.

If it’s my problem, it’s Santa’s problem.

I built the PC from scratch. It’s not defective, it plays AAA game titles at 150 fps without batting an eye.

I just think it should play those games at 200 fps. :D

Yeah you can buy a larger panel and build your own set up for less than a ready made kit.

I've built a few. We run all of our tunnels of solar and wind turbines all custom built.

You can get away with buying a leisure battery as its good for deep cycles. A cheap charge controller with a dump and then set your system that way with 12v (for lighting and USB stuff)

Then set your dump to a water heater, water pump or whatever you don't mind running when you don't use the excess power.

Its not the best set up but it's good for dipping your toe into DIY solar set ups.

You can scale from there then or if it's just the odd bit with solar, some solar generators might be worth a look as you can run a fair bit off them if you want to cut down costs..

Just a black pair of the kind of pants I usually wear and a small solar panel setup I can use to charge various devices.
You may want to look into the solar panels used to power Raspberry Pi's if your devices are small they can possibly power them up easily

Hey, that’s a great idea! Thanks!
