This is possibly one of the most ridiculous things i've heard in a while...

A customer of Ukranian Neobank 'Monobank' found her account had been blocked without warning after a KYC selfie verification check.

The initial response was:

'We told her it was because her hair was unwashed'

Lol what?

To add insult to Injury, the customer later finds out that the real reason she was blocked was because of what appeared to be a Russian flag pinned to the wall behind her in her bedroom during the selfie verification prompting accusations of her being a Russian Collaborator. And that the banks actual founder himself publicaly posted a screenshot of her selfie verification on to his personal Threads social media profile

I don't think i'll ever hear anyone say 'gee that selfie sure captured my pretty side'. This must be a nightware for women especially. And posted publicly by the banks own boss at that 😂

Anyway, it turns out that the flag was a slovakian flag and that much of the girls entire family is currently serving for the Ukranian armed forces. The Bank Boss has since apologised for it basically said: 'my bad, but i'm fed up of anything to do with Russia.'

Interesting that there is absolutely no coverage of this in any western news even if you look for it despite it's ramifications being massive as regulators are examining how customer data may have been exposed during video verification. And that the investigation could reshape how banks handle sensitive information.

But whatever the case it's a good reminder not to share sensitive information including biodata where you can because you never know who is accessing and whether or not a company acts as their privacy policy says.

Crazy world we live in

But it is what it is things keep happening little under our control

Shared on Threads says it all.

Such a stupid move.
Like l, this would've caused their clients to worry about their privacy even if they supported their decision to ban an RU supporter.

Whether I have my hair washed or not, they always say I violated their policies in the past, so bye.

I don't know if that's a violation (it must be?) to share KYC verification videos with the world, but I would try to sue the hell out of that bank.
