@Man, it can be rough out there getting clients in content writing.

Part of the reason why is the simple fact that it becomes saturated.

A pet peeve of mine is when I browse forums and I see someone new to marketing being told they should write content.

"You write well, so you should write content," is such a pervasive statement across forums. A very annoying one, too.

Just because someone seemingly writes "well" does not mean they should write content for a living. There is more to writing content than being able to spell correctly or knowing where a comma goes.

A miniscule rant is all this is.

It depends, there are tons of types of content writing, from copy, to articles, website content, review articles, books, landers and whatnot. Although for most I'd say that SEO knowledge is as important as being good with words, you don't really need to know SEO for writing a book. If you suck at writing you can't be a writer, so it's a prerequisite.

Man, I used to write content as a work from home job. It was tough because I had about 5 days of work a month and the rest I was thinking about what to do.

There just isn't enough demand for written content, so everyone can do this as a full time job.

Also, my thoughts are really scattered, so it took me a lot of time to write an article.

I wasn't a good fit for this.

What I found better is using writing not as the foundation of my work, but a necessity. So instead of being a content writer, I'd just switch to social media marketing and use writing to make better videos, articles but use them on my own instead of selling them. Then monetize it using ad revenue.

Even badly written text in quantity performs better than no text on social media. It's a good boost. And developing content for your own accounts is a lot closer to passive income.
