Video Editing Favorite video editing techniques?

Do any of you who edit videos have a favorite technique or style you use in most of your videos? It could be something simple like fade to black or maybe you like adding in a certain audio effect.

Just looking for some ideas to spruce up my next video.

In some of my last videos, I tried incorporating a bit of Edgar Wright's editing style.

I don't know the name of specific technique, but it's the one you see a lot in Shaun of the Dead for mundane stuff like filling up a cup. It's used for transitions and to make them more interesting.
