I'm looking to get my first "Client"

I have stated I do IM on the side on my desk job. I only have done affiliate stuff, but not to much success.

I now want a "client". How do I go about finding these "Clients?"

Anywhere bro.

You can go on Fiverr or Upwork and set up services. They just have high ass transaction fees LOL.

Probably better to say what you do exactly. There are some places for like specific services you can try bro.

While you can use websites such as Fiverr and Upwork, you can also try other approaches. I am not sure what business you are in particular, but there is always a way to find clients easily. Here are 2 examples:

#1 SEO

If you wanna perform SEO for clients, you can try to look for local companies in your area and check their websites. Most companies don't know what SEO stands for or what it is. Naturally, their websites are not optimized. Give them a call or email them with your offer and arrange a meetup in their/your office. Companies are always interested in getting more money. If you tell them what optimized SEO can bring them in, they want to know more about it.

#2 Web Design

Again, check companies in your area and compare their websites. Chances are you will find at least 20-30% of companies in your local area with outdated websites. Once again, get in contact with them and let them know what you can offer them and what their benefit will be. Companies always want to hear what's in it for them. That's what will ultimately lead to a positive result.

Finding Clients can be challenging in the beginning, because you will most likely face rejection, but with everything in life you need to embrace the rejection to get started. Good luck!

Honestly, given that you only dabbled in an no-so-client-centric part in the IM world, I think you should definitely consider focusing on one of the three main categories of client work:

PPC: All the cool guys are doing it. You'll pay for traffic and be honest about it. It's easier to sell and scale if you know what you're doing and it.
SEO: You'll pay for traffic (articles, images, backlinks) but you'll say you got it organically from Google and Bing. Clients love "free traffic" and you can sell dreams because "SEO takes time"
Social Media Management: Post images, videos or whatever to client's social media profiles. It's usually paired with some form of campaign management (at least at a basic level).

I didn't include graphic design, web development, or email marketing because they're harder to generate consistent income in. You'll most likely work on project basis rather than on retainer and you'll need constant stream of clients to maintain any sort of living out of.
