Gmail. How to see if someone read my email?

So I’m planning on sending out an email soon but it’s one where I want to make sure the recipient read it.

The problem is that I don’t see any kind of read receipt on Gmail.

Is there any way to send something in the email so that I can make sure it was read? I heard about others doing this with email marketing campaigns, but I don’t know how to do it with just a personal Gmail account.

Any help is appreciated!

No it’s just for a personal email I’m sending to a family member about something important.

I have a life outside bosses and doing things with them you know…..
