Hey SEO Guy here.

Saw this thing Google is doing with apps called deep link. I don't have an app for any of my sites but wanted to know what other peeps thinks of this.

Adding deep links to your website connects the website's URLs with the relevant app pages. It doesn't change how Google Search shows your content; Search continues to use the content of your web pages for indexing and ranking. App deep links enable users to go from Search results directly to the corresponding app page (if installed), resulting in a better user experience.

It works. Like web pages, just in-app.
The transition is pretty seamless but you need to have your tracking on point because even small inconsistencies make it very hard to understand.

We've been implementing this on every app we've developed with a corresponding website for several years now.

It was Firebase App Indexing when it came on the scene, it is now Android App Links

Have you ever tried search for flight tickets or hotel bookings and then being taken to that exact search page on the app? Now if you ran that same search in Incognito - you'd end up being taken to the webpage.

Similarly, if you find a reddit post in your searches, and have the app you end up going to that post in your app, otherwise you land on the webpage.
