I see a lot of people who are founding members and only hit me now that I have no idea how you get this status.

Is this something you pay for or is it a voting thing? How do I become one and how did others become one?

You can never be that, you needed to be here in the really early days. First 200 members if I remember right.

It's something you paid for with your time, but it was mostly a matter of timing, whoever signed up first and made an effort to help OO shape itself into what it is.

You can't become a founding member (at least not at this point), but becoming a Platinum member is an option.

There's a site guide on it, but it was way in the back of the Site Guides section, so I don't blame you for not finding it.

Anyway, the existing Founding Members were given that status because they joined the forum early on and contributed either by posting or by helping out with bug fixes (@Octavia and @Rem were extremely helpful with this). It's not something anyone can or ever has paid for.

You can become a Platinum Member eventually, but I need to work out if the Platinum Members want a nomination process for it and how they want it to work.
So why did I have to PayPal 100k?
I just know someone is going to think you're being serious and I'm going to get another message from someone trying to bribe me again...

Shit I didn't know it was too late for something like that. OK then.

OK I found the guide on Platinum but I saw Z say he's working on something with that so I guess I'll wait and see what's required for that. Thanks.

Yeah makes sense.

Someone tried bribing you to be a Founding or something else?

No one knows except for @Zwielicht and @Impulse, and it's kinda the point of it, to prevent members from "campaigning" for it.

Yeah, a few people tried offering money for Founding Member status because they missed the boat. I just told them it doesn't work that way.

I've always been offered bribes for random stuff since I started moderating in this industry, but taking bribes is stupid and never worth it. I don't care for money, but even if I did, taking money for something you're not supposed to just means someone can easily post the transaction and conversation online and ruin your reputation the second you do something they disapprove of.

You know that saying, "It takes years to build trust, but seconds to break it". Accepting bribes is never worth the risk.

Wait, why would someone offer more for Platinum? Founding is above Platinum. :ROFLMAO:
No one knows excepy for @Zwielicht and @Impulse
There's actually an automated upgrade system for it in place right now with a pre-set criteria I won't reveal, but the requirements are set really high for now. I meant to post in the Platinum section asking everyone if they wanted a nomination system in place instead, but I never got around to it. I'll do it in a little bit, though.

I'd prefer to only use the automated system if we ever run into a situation where the current Platinum members are no longer active and nobody is around to vote.

Well I did just create a product of value for you. Why have plat when I can have founding all the extras for less...

But you spoilt it.

Again you bring up the $10k wire I sent?
Donations on the donations page does not count, I tried with $1 did not work.
