So, OpenAI sent me an e-mail today about how I can get ChatGPT Plus for one month free
As far as I'm aware, they're just doing this right now on their plans page and you don't need an invite. I presume this is in response to those who cancelled their subscriptions over recent events.
No matter. Let's claim this one month free offer.
But wait... like every other company, it's not really free. You see, they want your credit card details in order to pull the exact same stunts they always do: hope you forget about the subscription for recurring income or charge you early so you can't cancel it in time.
Thankfully, there's an easy solution to this problem: by setting up a single-use card using Privacy.com.
After the card has been set up, make sure you set a $1 spend limit to the card.
After submitting the single-use card details, you'll now have ChatGPT Plus without having to worry about yet another subscription.
As an extra security measure, I also paused the card on Privacy.com after the $0 authorisation transaction went through.
