A recent study from Kobe University, published in PNAS, found that optimists exhibit strikingly similar brain patterns when thinking about the future, particularly in the medial prefrontal cortex. In contrast, pessimists show more diverse brain activity.
This shared neural processing in optimists may explain their greater social connectedness and their ability to emotionally distance themselves from negative scenarios, rather than reinterpreting them positively.
