Old Employer Is Trying To Ruin New Job? What To Do?

So things have been going well at the new job.

I largely moved on from the old place and the shitty two faced CEO.

But then I got told by my new manager that she just wanted to give me a heads up but my old employer called and said that they'd be better off firing me and hiring someone more capable.

I didn't exact for details on what exactly that meant cause I was just in SHOCK!

I wasn't stupid enough to put that asshole as a reference so he seriously spent the time hunting me down just so he could do this? wtf?

I don't work for that old CEO anymore so why is he acting like he owns my life? I knew he was a psycho but this is just on a whole other level!

Is there anything I can do legally or whatever? I just want this guy off my back.
 
No point wasting your energy on a psycho as you mentioned.

Why don't you try giving him one last chance, try talking to him. Iron things out.

Also mention if you had over-stepped or hurt him you apologise. So basically apologise even if you are right. From my personal experience it's okay to not make any friends. But never make an enemy.

Last resort go legal. But understand you will also get flagged during this process. Future employers might find you a threat and fear you, they become reluctant hiring you

Sounds like the smart thing to do here, honestly IMO. Try to be the bigger person : )

If there’s a way to talk it out with him... your main aim is for him to leave you alone.
If that will help with your own peace of mind, it might be worth doing

But OP, for your manager to even inform you about this shows they trust you and want to keep you, regardless of what your former employer has said about you.

I don’t think him reaching out would change anything in your new job.

But seeing how petty your old employer can be, you might be better off sorting it out with him. You don’t know how far he’d be willing to go to dent your rep over whatever he has against you.

Lilttle chat over a call could potentially put an end to it (I guess)

Never been an employee, but as a freelancer had - believe it or not - prospects that *never were my clients* go around facebook groups where freelancers look for clients and badmouth me, lol. It was quite easy to deal with, I just replied publicly that they were never my clients and cause me problems because I didn't want to work for free. This didn't have a negative impact on my sales. As far as actual past clients went, most don't give me negative reviews but if someone is really butthurt because I didn't work myself to death for a cheap price (I work proportionally to how much I get paid - a lil bit of service if cheap, very thourough if they pay more) then they threaten that they'll post a negative review and I threaten them back that I'll sue them if they do. So I guess employee version would be telling him you'll sue?
 
You can report this CEO for employment abuse to a politician or other employment groups for example if you are part of labour groups they can help you.

I am guessing you are American, so you will have whatever the American version of our employment protection rules for yourself.

Guessing it company you can easily report him to the shareholders for misconduct towards you .

I don't know about apologizing for something when I wasn't wrong. That just seems like a bad idea and if he's already messing with me like this then it already seems like he's my enemy.

OK I'll try talking to him. I mean I already tried talking to him loads of times when I worked there and all the guy did was gaslight me and talk behind my back but I guess it's worth a try for the millionth time. Like I really tried being upfront and honest with him but he was just really paranoid.

The new job is going great! I'm just really bothered about what the former employer CEO guy did. It's like leave me alone you know?
 
Son you might be better off just ignoring him. Your old CEO sounds like a troll and giving a troll any reaction will only encourage them to keep messing with you.
 
You're better off talking to the new manager about the situation then reaching out to the old guy. Sounds like he has a few screws loose if he's going this far.

Do you know what it is that made him so crazy? Maybe he saw your old thread about trying to get him fired 😅
 
I was just thinking if this guy as mental as he seems to be he will probably destory his own rep by what he is doing then end up fired when people start talking about him more and it gets spread around the company or business community in general.


I can't remember where it was but a chairman, similar to stupid or stocker sort of stuff which happened but for another past employee he got fired since he would have meeting or talks about this past employee who left 6 months ago everyone else in the company was getting annoyed by it all so they sacked him over it
