On OO there are very few reasons for having a trading post thread close:

Seller is banned (due to scamming or any other reason)
The seller asked for it to be closed
Unmaintained sales thread

All of the above reasons justify having the sales thread removed rather than just locked IMO.
Or at least remove the links and contact info if the seller wasn't banned.

The reason for posting this is that yesterday a member sent me a message about a sales thread regarding a method that was sold on the MP, the BST was closed to to the seller being a PBM that lost a SL. So, obviously they still get sales even after their BST was closed because the main thread links to an off-forum site they use for payment processing.

I agree
there should be a TP archive section hidden to the public
it's there just for reference for the mods/admin
but there zero reason why it should still be public.
Especially since this does invite people to reach out to still buy/sell etc

I agree with this as well. The problem you described with the other forum was one I saw happen from time to time, especially when I handled disputes. An archive seems to be the simplest solution to the problem.

I was planning on providing a grace period for closed listings to be reopened, so I’d need to work around that. However, in the case of banned members with sales listings, these should definitely be archived.

I’ll wait to see what other members think before adding anything.

Agree contact details and site are still mentioned in the OP or all the promotional bumps.

Would be great if it could be carpet "redacted" in the thread rather than only the OP
