So, your friend just bought a new house and paid like $1M for it.

To save $1500 he asks his friends to help him with the move of his family`s home.

Is it morally ok to do so, expecting his friends to help him out even if he is wealthy enough to buy a $1M house.

Would you help him for free to move his stuff, if so why does he pay contractors to fix stuff in his home and not you helping him move? He says he will buy beers and food for the move for his friends to enjoy after, could he not just invite his friends to a new house party later?

What do you think is the right way to do a move to a house he paid $1M for? Is it ok to use his friends to help him or should he pay a service to help him?

Just lessen the hassle of inviting friends and use that money to move the stuff

100% yes, we'll have an awesome day helping out a friend and have beers after.

Buying a $1M house means that you may have spent 10 years saving every penny to get q mortgage.

I'd be happy to help out a friend even if they're swimming in money and are just cheap. What are friends for?

Depends. Was it purchased with $1 million in cash or a $1 million mortgage?
Let`s for sake of normality say he took a mortage to buy it, here where I live you got to pay about $150K cash to get that mortage and earn a substantial amount of money every month.

This tbh

Then I think it's fine. My reasoning is mostly the same as @roydan's. If they are "swimming" in money, maybe toss me a hundo.

My own thoughts on this, I would never ask my friends to help me out in this case as the cost of hire a moving company is so cheap, I would rather invite my friends to a new house party later. I would rather respect my friends time then use the friendship card.

But we all have different morals depending on culture so no answer is right here, that is why I asked, to learn.

Still no.

I was at risk of homelessness at one point and still paid for help 😂. All paid, I even paid my friends for accommodation. This sounds like someone is being a cheapskate.

Is it morally right to pay with drugs. Of course not.

But it's... it's not the end of the world. I had been given beers and drugs in exchange for help many times, but those people saw themselves as scumbags and psychopaths.

Friend of mine recently closed on a $3.5m house and another friend of ours flew out across the country for a month to hang out and help him set things up and do work around the property together. Didn't ask for a dime. Because they're friends and enjoy helping out, it wasn't expected, it was offered. I don't think money is really a variable in the equation at that point. I wouldn't ask for money or expect it when giving a friend a hand for a day or two. It's a two way street though.

Of course, why wouldn’t I help my friend?
I belive we all would if he asked, but the question is rather is it morally ok to ask your friends for helping out for free if it is cheap to buy the service?

If it's a mansion then probably paying for the service makes sense but if the friend himself is lending a hand then why not btw if not a mansion

Well, if I offered to pay a friend to do me a favor I'd expect them to punch me in the face.

Friendship is above this, I think. You shouldn't really have a long thinking session before you call a friend for a favor, and neither should they before they call you.

Were I live $1M is a normal not fancy house, fancy houses starts at $3M.
Well if it's normal and if he wants to help then who am I to stop

Just imagine a friend flying down all the way from Dubai Israel or even the US during uncertain times for this stuff 😁

Still the question is NOT if he offers to help, the question is: Is it morally ok to ask YOUR friends to help you out for free if it is cheap to buy the service.

No because if one can afford a million dollar house then the service route is the ideal way
