More than the crash itself, I can't stop thinking about the one guy who survived.

Out of 240+ people, he was in seat 11A, unbuckled himself mid-fall, and somehow made it out alive- jumped out or got ejected, depending on which version you believe.

Like... how insanely lucky do you have to be?

Or is it more than luck? Right seat + right reflex + right second?

What are the real odds of walking away from a crash like that?

Is it all randomness or is there something in emergency positioning or design that makes survival possible?

Also the real talk - does this change how you'd think about choosing seats on a flight?

It's just down to relaxing on impact of the crash.

I wrote my M5 off going into a steel barrier over 100mph.

I saw a petrol tanker coming down the fast road and I thought I was going to go through the barrier and into that tanker and boom! So I thought this is it, I left go of the wheel and just relaxed and thought its over this is how I got. Those 5seconds felt like 15min.

I swear I could see every air bag go off in slow motion. The steering column went through my legs, I broke my shoulder trying to open the door so I could get out of the car covered in oil, petrol and blood lots of blood.

I was told if I hadn't had relaxed at that moment Id be dead. But the doctor also said Id never walk again took 18 months to fully recover from that crash but I'm still here, still walking, still running.

There's a lot to be said for bracing for impact..

Not really, but there are models that say some seats are safer than the others.
