WHY are vets such money grabbing cunts..

Our new pup had his first booster from the breeder. Rang our vet told them this, gave them the batch numbers brands etc, asked if thats OK yes no problem.

Booked him in 4 weeks go by. Take him to the vet today.

Obviously the little guy first time in the boot has an accident that's fine, can live with that - that's not his fault.

I clean him up best I can but obviously as hes not allowed on the floor I get covered with it - joys of being a dog owner.

Get seen.

Go into vet room. Vet has his card and looks at me tells me he can't do a 2nd jab as it's a different brand.

I said no that's not what reception had said she said it's fine.

No I have to start over.

FUMING.

So I said OK I'll take the discounted puppy pack then please.

No can't do the puppy back because he's already been micro chipped!

WTF.

So now after 4 weeks he's had his 1st jab AGAIN. Now I need to go back and this time carry a 16-17 week old pup instead (who will have zero intention of staying on my lap at that point) for his 2nd jab and the entire thing is costing me an extra £160 instead of the £50 today - for reference the puppy booster pack is £90.

Doesn't matter I got it. BUT it felt like an honest money making fuck around.

UK I know there's some law coming to stop all this bollocks which needs to come in sooner than later. I've been with this vet for decades. It's not like I'm new, I'm on our 5th set of cats and 3rd dog...

THEN to top it all off I had to wait for his flea and worming they kept me waiting covered in piss and shit in hot weather for 15min (I think because I played fuck with the vet)

I honestly think because they didn't do the microchip and first jab they just looking to claw money back which is whats fucked me off so much!!

Same in The Netherlands it has become so bad that the government is planning on setting a max price limit on procedures.

Yes the same in the UK. Because they found although there is like say 100000 vets or whatever I think they are all actually owned by 5 companies there's defiantly price fixing going on. Awful that they take advantage of you at worst time as well, each time I've gone to traditional vet to say goodbye all they do is try and get as much money as possible.

I hate every aspect of it.

We had to bring in out dog multiple times for the same issue.

Each time €45 consultant fee + treatment cost.

I get that i gave to pay for the overpriced over the counter medicine but the consultant fee each time.... nah.

They prescribed anti cough pills paid like £60 for 10 pills 💊.

The same exact pills can be bought for less than £5 st the drugs store.

Same brand, dosage and everything.

The next we ust bought that instead.

If it helps to check him over with a vet is like £68 for the first visit per illness (say like my last dog) then you go back for check up its normally half that.

BUT when you go back yearly it doesn't count as a follow up as 12 months passed so you pay another £68 visit fee.

PLUS whatever else they try to sell you.

They also dont like you buying meds online with a script from the vet. It used to cost £15 years and years ago. Same script is now £50.

Don't get me started lol

Former colleague had to pay $3k for his cat that had pneumonia, cat died and still had to pay for the remainder days.

So had to pay for the whole week, while the cat was there for just 4 days max.

Ans even if you take pet insurance, it doesn't cover everything for 100%, while costing €34/m

It is the same here, vets are moneygrabbers.
Lol I even remember memes about vets where vet was staying on a pile of money and mocking peasants.

He was saying "haha, you could've been studying like me"

Haha

I loved the cats I had, but really if a vet would give me that quote, I`d digg a hole in the backyard for that cat or dog for that matter and get a new one.

Yeah I got to be honest all of our pets apart from dental work. Which requires a mortgage to even cover the deposit.

Anything that's recurring bills or costing over 2500 we just draw the line on it. I do that as id want the same done to me.

I got a friend who went over 100k in debt to fix his dog with all the best treatments and rehab possible for an extra 18 months. Nah that's not me.

So while I moan I draw the line hard on things like that.

I just dont like when you go for blood work and they say we can do standard bloods for £100 or you can have the PREMIUM blood scan for £150

Fucker. You pulling the blood just scan it all. You know you look for it all anyway.

Same with death. Our first cat we put to sleep they made me pay there and then and then gave me a choice of 65 options (3 A4 sheets of paper of optional extras)

Now we use a specialist vet who comes out and does it in your home and just charges £300.

Vet insurance don't get me started. Its worse than house insurance. The old WHAT IF insurance scam. Just like vets as well, they use any excuse not to pay out, or you got to pay first and then wait 90 days to get money back... nah
