Any number you have in mind Z by the end of the year?
Yeah, 9001 members seems good.
I'm not aiming for a specific number of members as I'm going for quality over quantity: genuine active members.
I'm not sure if you read the
changelog often, but I've been putting a lot of measures in place to keep out spam bots and low-effort spammers. This coupled with our manual approval process to make sure real people are joining means that we're growing the numbers more slowly, but we're getting more active genuine members who want to participate here.
In terms of progress, I frequently compare OO's activity to other forums with real people like the
Xenforo community forums; they're not a competitor obviously, but it gives me a good idea of where this forum is at so far in terms of activity.
I've never been keen on the idea of being numbers-based when it comes to communities. However, there is actually one aspect that I do have a goal in mind when it comes to numbers, and it's the number of
Outlaws online at once. During peak hours (2AM-12PM PST) we usually have about 30-35 members online at once, with this number dipping to around 4-15 during the early to mid-afternoon since most of the members here don't live in the Americas. At the end of the year, I'd love to be able to get to the point where we have a minimum of 100 members online at once at any given time. At the rate we're going, I feel like this is goal is very realistic as well, but I won't be upset if we don't meet this goal as I'm pretty happy already with how this is turning out.
I thought I'd share this with you and everyone else just to keep everyone updated with any goals or plans for OO. It's amazing that we already have 300 members after only a bit over 2 months since we properly opened the forum up to the IM community.
