I would be pissed wtf 3 min ad
Yeah but still I was referring to the buying directly from the advert or sending information about helpline or cars direct to mobile. Not seen that before, seems a massive step ahead of normal tv advertising...
@t2van Want to know the three biggest blunders of my life?
- In the early 2000s, I figured Amazon to be a one-hit wonder and assumed it would fizzle out by 2006.
Yeah BUT you could argue it did fizzle out, I mean what it is today is nothing like it was when it started. It's a great example of evolve or die. Imagine if they just stuck to books.
- I was offered 100+ bitcoin when it was less than 10 cents per coin. (I'd have sold once it hit $200-300 per coin probably, but still).
Don't have regrets over that, as you said you would have sold at $200 a coin giving you 20k. It would be a different story if you sold up, HOWEVER what people forget is at the time that 20k is maybe what you needed, or didn't need if you never took it.
Sitting and thinking about how that would have changed drives people crazy.
I got bitcoin back from when it was 10 cents I got given it and I've held it just to see how far it will go, It never cost me anything, I doubt ill ever sell when I do IF I do. I'll probably sell at just the wrong time when the value has hit it's cap and it's spiralling down to nothing.
- I wrote out an entire plan for a food delivery service back in 2008. Delivery drivers earning a decent wage + tips, mapped the first food services I was aiming to contact, and plans for expanding if I reached a certain milestone. I got distracted with life and never pursued further. Doordash came around 2014.
I think you still got a shot with that, is any of the delivery drivers paid anything decent though? There's tons of these services I don't think any of them actually look after the drivers...
Amazon has really done well for themselves and honestly, pretty happy with them.
Yes very well. Like I said it's a different business from when it started. They innovate to stay ahead of the game.
Like buying from adverts they display, is a big game changer I bet there is a nice little premium attached to that, I shared as I have not seen them do that before and just wondered when they started to offer it.
Jeff Bezos is a sack of shit though.
Agree.
Id not call any of them blunders though, it's just life. You could have started that food business and it might not have worked, lots of businesses fail, you could have sold your bitcoin and Amazon just adapted rather than die. It what put you on the path you are on today.
There's a reason we stop and change things at the time, it just wasn't for us. Everything is just timing.
I had a .com the same time as Amazon came around 8 figure business! It was flying and thriving a set of choices I made and a bunch of things out side of my control set up the perfect storm and it went. I always used to drink and morn that loss every year.
What I had, how things would be different if I still keep it, where it would be right now. But it took the realisation that everything I have today and love id probably wouldn't have had if I had kept it going. It shaped and moulded me into who and what I am today.
Life is funny about giving you a kick now and again its what makes it interesting.
Don't worry about your blunders, they are just stories along your journey.
