Serious question here.

At point do you guys put banner ads up on your website?

Me? I put them up straight away if I can just so I can focus on getting everything else done. Even earning pennies in the beginning helps with motivation to keep working on the site.

What about you guys? Do you wait until after the site is getting traffic or do you put banners on there straight away?

It depends on the site I'm building. If it's a business-oriented site, then I tend not to put banner ads up as the sites are monetised through other means (e.g., services).

If I build something like a blog in a specific niche, then I put ads up on the site after they get consistent traffic since that's the only form of revenue the sites have.

I actually used to have ads up on my own business website at one point, but took them down as I felt even one of them was too distracting.

Many site owners wait until they have consistent traffic (500–1,000 visits/day) before adding banner ads to avoid slowing the site or hurting user experience early on.

But like you, some add them from day one for motivation or to test placements.

Both approaches are valid. It depends on your goals.

It depends upon the person. That's okay if you put them straight away.

A good starting point is to aim for at least 100+ visitors per day and around 50 articles to provide advertisers with confidence in the ad placement.

I prefer to wait until I have stable ranking of some sort. Call it 'Google tests your site', 'sandbox:, or whatever - as soon as it's over I add the ads.

I normally do like this.

I make my site as good as possible onpage wise. Once that is done basically linkbuilding done such as social media accounts setup and basic directory links done then I attach banners to the site.
