Why do people use AirBNB instead of hotels?

Airbnbs have all those things extra surprise fees and you really don’t know what you’re getting. I just don’t get why someone wouldn’t just use a hotel which is cheaper and you know what you’re paying for and how much you’re paying.

Yeah, I use booking.com and hotels from there directly, but in Kuala Lumpur most are serviced apartments anyway. I get discounts by taking things off-platform.

It used to be good that’s why. Getting a whole house to yourself and sometimes for less than a hotel. Especially a luxury hotel.

These days some people still want that home experience over what a hotel has to offer so that’s why they still go for Airbnb.

Airbnbs are also in places where hotels aren’t sometimes so that’s another reason.

It's not always cheaper.

We used to do AirBnBs, going to Europe in a team was easier as we all under the same place, the rent worked out the same as having 2 hotel rooms and it was good. We have used them our own holidays as well, some places can be private, more flexible on arrival times, got pools and all sorts.

However, as time has gone on and things have changed, I really like a hotel. There's something about just going back to your own room, closing the door and the world is left outside. You don't get how dirty or how fucked up habits some other people have till you share with people you work with.

We go back and forth regularly (well me not so much now) we always put the guys in a hotel. It's also easier for a damage point of view people can gang up and shut up and no one take the blame if it's your own room and you pissed the bed (YES that's happened more than once with 1 guy - now as a reputation for it) you get billed for it.

I've been using it because it's sometimes cheaper than a hotel, and I also enjoy vacations where I can experience everyday life, such as grocery shopping and meeting locals.

When they started out it was a great idea, a lot cheaper with many benefits, but as with all things, as time past they became worse and worse to the point that now I would definitely use a hotel and use airbnb if it's the only option available.

Am I the only sucker that never tried AirBnB?

My friend tried. He asked me for 600 pln ($180) payment, so I could have a room with bathroom for 5 days.

We went for skiing. Turned out it's extremely hard. I tried once and later stood home drinking beer.

Fun time.

Never seen. house this cozy before
