Your office set up and or dream set up.

Random question I know.

I got a small desk as I don't believe in clutter (possible lie, small desk stops me from hoarding shit)

My desk only 410mm wide and 1200mm long. Its a live-edge slab from a downed tree and I made simple ash legs. Nothing fancy, then I got random storage and shelf for printers and other things. It's all a bit of a hodge podge I guess, most offices are I suppose?

Anyhow. I'm considering or I am going to be redesigning my entire office, tax is coming and I need to spend some money.




So I'm just looking for ideas, what would you like to have, what do you have that's a must or can't live without?

What sort of set up would you like?



Currently, I'm thinking about cutting a tree, making a 2.6m long desk with bespoke units below it to store everything and build it around my window desk will be long but not very wide much like my set up now just needs to be deep enough to place a monitor and keyboard and hold a writing pad.

Yeah more I spend on "work things" less money I need to give tax man.

Tax based on profits. So if I spend profit on things for work like office refurb for myself. Profit goes down, spend goes up tax is less

I didn't really notice that to honest, I thought the desk was a big note pad.

It is nice. But the scale is massive id need to buy a whole new place just to have that office lol

Great.. In India we showing so many expenses on daily basis expenses, if any new car has been purchased, anything would be constructed etc. But all these expenses you need to make by planning monthly.. you can't expense so much before tax date. They look like you are fooling to the govt.

Yeah you can't just spend all your profit as you have to pay something at some point but helps to just take a few hundred or thousand off the bill.. if it need to be purchased or spent might as well do it before end of financial year just to spend the money and get something back

I'm thinking something like the right-hand side of this photo but window framed in the centre and made from oak or ash

Then one wall I like the popular trend of the slatted wall but maybe just half up high

Part of the plan is to do some kind of floating shelf thing as the cats love it in the office for them to climb up

Beyond all prestige and other crap that is only useful in meetings, the single most important aspect of an office is your chair. To me, it can make or break the entire setup.

I love empty and organized work desk, but I'm so all over the place that I can't keep it organized for more than one or two days...

I have two PC monitors and a macbook I jump between, tons of guitar picks and all sorts of crap (I swear I have a tambourine and a lyre there as well).. I wish I could keep it organized properly..

Well, a really nice office vibe will strengthen you whether you like it or not, it makes you feel the same as you did when you walked down the road with that perfect women by your side and everyone was looking, never underestimate the power of flair.

Could be.. but my office needs to have stuff I like, and not just things I need for work. Flair is not something I'll ever be able to acquire, I think.. not that type of person.

But I do like to a place I want to go to and spend time in. I spend most of my working day and life in here now so I want to be nice. Comfortable and have some fancy things..

It's an uninspired room at the mo with miss match units and shelves with a make do attitude.
