Update Changes To The Notice System

We've made some changes to the notice system (what many of you will know as "warnings").

Thankfully, we rarely have to give out notices here (seriously, we only have to give out one every month at the most), so this won't affect the majority of you.

Active Notices Now Result in Sapphire Ineligibility
As our forum continues gaining new members every day, we wanted to pre-emptively deal with an issue we're all very much familiar with: people signing up, spamming, and purchasing membership just to sell.

I've mentioned before that we really don't want anyone doing this for two reasons:

1. The spam will put people off of this forum.
2. We want people who sell here to be part of the community and not just traders.

That's why we've updated our notices to make anyone who receives one ineligible to purchase Sapphire until their notice expires.

Length of Time of Active Notices Increased
Because notices are rarely issued, we've also increased the length of time that the more egregious ones are active. For instance, AI spam, member abuse,

Malware Distribution Notice Adjusted
Malware distribution (i.e., deliberately spreading malware) is now an automatic ban and not just 3 points for 3 weeks.

The site guide on notices and bans has been updated to reflect these changes.

Currently, it doesn't.

I am considering adding something in with the Trading Post re-work to prevent members from submitting listings for review or pre-approval whilst a notice is active, but I still need to look into this.

Applying this to regular members is fine by me, but to those who have already upgraded it sounds pretty harsh. If someone bought sapphire and already have an approved trading post listing, I think that the threshold should be a lot higher to punish them (even if it's only 'temp' demotion).

I wouldn't want to be demoted just for derailing a thread, which is how some of us hang out here. The conversation takes some lefts and rights like in real life. It can be perceived as spammy at times, but for me it's just how I talk (and I'm sure many other think the same).

I agree that it can create a problem if it just keep happening despite OPs asking for it to stop, but if we're talking about demoting Sapphire upon first (or even second) notice - I think it's too much.

That being said, if it's just postponing a trading post listing from being published until the notice expires (a few weeks), I think it's fair.

Oh no, I wasn't thinking of demoting anyone for receiving a notice. At most, I was looking into limiting their ability to submit a for-sale listing to the Trading Post. They'd keep the status whilst the notice is active.
