For those of you who don't know this, I've been writing a book since 2018 about the black hat IM industry. I actually mentioned this briefly on BHW on June 24, 2020.

Well, I'm finally looking to self-publish it! Writing a book is one of those things that's on my bucket list, so I'll be very happy once I've published it.

I've not published a book before, but I was wondering if any of you have experience doing this? From what I understand, I need to get an ISBN (either an e-book ISBN or a regular one; I'll most likely release it as an e-book), design the cover art, and obviously, finish writing and editing the book. When I last looked into this, selling it on Amazon sounded like the best bet, but if anyone knows of any other options, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Speaking of which, it's important to me that it's read by others in the industry. When I first looked into this, I wanted to do a 100% off coupon temporarily available here on OO, but I once read you could only do 80% off with Amazon. I suppose I could always just release it here as a download in the Sapphire section, but I'm still looking over my options. Again, if anyone has experience with this, it would help me out greatly.

There’s Apple Books but I think you need to pay an apple connect membership fee for $99 every year. Not 100% sure but it’s another option!

Good luck publishing your book!

Amazon Kindle try with that

Reach new readers by creating a paperback version of your book. KDP automatically prints and ships your book whenever customers order copies so that you do not have to pay any up-front printing costs or maintain any inventory. Earn 60% royalties (less printing costs) on paperback sales.

I think Amazon will be your best bet.

I never understood ebooks. I prefer turning pages over scrolling.

My mom published a book on Amazon many years ago, so I doubt anything I know is relevant today.

I looked into this one a little more. I think I'll pass on Apple, but thanks for letting me know about that one.

Oh, that's a very interesting option right there with KDP printing and shipping a paperback copy of your book! I'd really like to have that kind of option.

I've been reading more today on the different options, and Amazon is looking like the most likely place I'll use to publish it. Although, I need to read more about the pros and cons of using your own ISBN versus the one provided by Amazon for free. So far, it seems like it doesn't give them "rights" to your book, but rather only allows you to publish it on their platform. At least, only that edition of your book.

To be honest, I don't really care much for e-books myself when it comes to reading. I used to have a Kindle (the old ones with the printed paper look), although it's in my storage and I can't be bothered to look for it right now.

In the case of publishing a book, having a printed copy of it is outside my budget.

Doesn't it something Amazon can do on demand? Maybe I'm imaging..

Yeah, it does. That was what @vicky71083 said in his message, I just forgot to edit my response to you.

That's a huge plus in my book. 😏
