Hey OO fam

This story happened to me last week and wanted to share so i can get your opinion too.

I was working on a deal with a company to white-label their service. The proposal was around $40k for the first year and then about $10k/year after that, depending on usage. (im sharing the numbers just so you guys so you guys have an idea of what kind of business size this was.) They assigned me a manager, we had two calls, and everything seemed great. He was professional, explained the service well.

But then we continued the conversation over WhatsApp, and out of nowhere he started calling me "bro."

TF mate hahahaa

Maybe I’m overthinking, but it just came as unprofessional given the nature of the deal. What do you guys think?

Dealing on whats app bro. It's hardly a professional communication method, so yeah reading too much into it bro.

Relax.

After the Zoom calls, we moved to WhatsApp to get quicker replies lol
Dont know what happened to the bro

If it is a good deal you gain from, just forget the Bro thingy, sure it sounds weird, but the deal is the same I guess.

I will never call a client bro, whether it's a $12K/mo or 500 a months client, no matter if it's on WhatsApp, telegram, face to face, email or a letter carried by a pigeon.

You never call your clients 'bro'. I see it as extremely unprofessional.

I don't think it should make the deal fall, but very weird. Like . Bro? For real??

In my experience, acting closer to the person has yielded more revenue and growth than acting professionally, even when I was a customer, I felt more safe and good about the deal if it wasn't a fully professional type of engagement

I wouldn’t say it’s worth backing out of the deal over this if this is the only red flag, but you should keep an eye on that one. A lack of professionalism like that isn’t a good sign, and could mean they might be a pain to work with.

You should keep an eye out to see if there are any other red flags about this that you could be missing.

I guess it depends on the culture, maybe he's not a native english speaker, in their culture it's normal to call others bro and he translated it that way.

But WHAT IF the twist the company he's been offered work for is a surf shop?
Then 'bro, and 'dude' would be professional jargon and appear as such in the company mission statement.

Assuming OP bothered to read the mission statement, which would explain the confusion on the sudden 'bro' via the what's app

This made me optimistic I can deal with millionaires too, bro.

"Deal" is a word massively used by influencers where I live.
