I didn't know where else to post this. Mods move if it's in the wrong section pls.

So it's been a while! I wanted to know if any of you have ever been to one of those IM conferences. You know like BrightonSEO or one of those.

Big or small doesn't matter. I was just thinking of going to one because I've always wanted to do that to network.

I thought going a few times but I got told by a few friends not worth me going since I will probably learn nothing One of my friends pays his SEO manager every year to go to the Thailand event he told me his SEO manager always comes back learned nothing each year and he told me the same thing about going to Brighton SEO as well

No, not really. I’ve thought about going to conferences in the past, but I always ended up not going because I heard stories of people being literally begged for their “secret system” for making money. Maybe those people were just at the wrong conferences, but I don’t know. Why would anyone share their secret money-making formula or SEO trick in front of a huge crowd, only for it to get saturated?

I attended a few data analysis conferences in Israel in 2015-2016 I think, but mostly to hang out with fellow marketers by the coffee cart.

I was invited to give a lecture once but ended up not going for it eventually.

Nothing since then because honestly, I hate wasting my time on outdated into that was *maybe* relevant 3 years ago.

I am never attend any such conferences.
Well here you'll get so many experienced responses but still you feel to go just thought and go but it's fact no one going to tell you there secret of work, that is a business secret if they tell you than why they create such conferences.
Everything is your wish. 😊

I'll skip the ferrets talk, but happy to buy you a beer.

Sure if you want whisky, let me know I am related to most of Scotland's distilleries and I live next to like 10 distillerys basically my house faces one every street or river leads to whisky more less.

I am kind of weird drinker for example I hate the taste of wine except rise wine and only beer I like from very small makers like you got some say Jim who makes say 50,000 Beers a year so custom sort of made flavours or way they do it often.

I like all Ciders overall

I've been to tons of events... Before I started going irl I'd go in Second Life (mostly because I was bedridden and couldn't go out), in 2000s virtual worlds were trendy kinda and all the big companies like Intel, Sun Microsystems, Microsoft, Nature magazine, etc had regular events there. Then it stopped being popular, basically nothing happening there nowadays. After I got healthier I went to events in my home city, mostly IT events since that's what was available, also NGO / CSR events but that's because I was involved in the third sector for a while. Some general business events, mostly in other cities. Probably got photographed by paparazzi occassionally while eating and landed in some companies' CSR vids 😂. There was also this event series, technology for NGOs, not very popular, but I attended almost every single one. Eventually got asked to present and so many people came 😂. Like wtf, I didn't do any extra marketing other than the organizer did. Also some dude from Ministry of Digital Affairs came to listen to my event 🤷🏻. I think mine was most popular and there was also some dude teaching gamification with a certificate, that was super popular too, the rest from these series were kinda empty.

@payal23j Once you get into some events it should be easier to get into more... Do organizers have a newsletter? Look around the venue, maybe they have posters or flyers about next events at the same venue? Also it depends on the location... My city had mostly IT, but nearby city already had more general business (not a long trip also, just hopped on a train). Warsaw/capital has general business, international but apparently also entertainment/red carpet kinda things 😂. But I'm not very knowledgeable about that since I'm not from Warsaw. So yeah, you might want to try different locations if you don't find a right fit right away.

Very interesting.

I used to go to Retail or business events I found it kind of cool or fun way to learn about new products I could sell in Retail or online I found it a lot of fun the whole experience plus I enjoyed you could speak to founders face to face to build up a good working relationship

Was gonna go to funnel hacking live tbh but life got in the way.

Luckily I got a virtual ticket instead.
