Urge to learn a new language

Yes, I want to learn new languages, but I always hit some kind of plateau where I don’t see any progress and end up giving up. It would be cool to learn Russian or Chinese, but as far as I understand, those are some of the hardest languages to learn.

English is the de facto language here, and in schools they teach French and German, sometimes Spanish or Italian specifically because they are easier for English speakers to learn.

As for me, I don't see the point in learning a language. You'll likely never have a proper accent enough to blend in and be treated 'locally' even if you look local enough and would be better off getting one of these imho. Good for business trips too:

I use the Google translate App as you can scan text and instantly convert and set it to have a conversation between two people. You can save the language as well so you don't have to have WiFi etc

It's been handy when I've been out to places like Germany, Italy and Holland
