Many web hosts have something called PHP Extended support. This is added on to your account if one of your websites is using an outdated PHP version (currently anything below 8.1).

Their response to this is to charge you around an extra $5/month for this extended support.

Yeah, sure, $5/month isn't a lot to some, but that adds up to an extra $60/year you could've saved.

So How Do You Get Rid of It?
Most web hosts will automatically remove this add-on from your account once you update the PHP versions of all of your websites. This happened for me within 24 hours.

If they don't remove it automatically, you can contact your web host's support and ask them if your account is eligible to remove it.

One Final Warning
Don't just force a PHP update for a site as you could end up breaking the website. This is especially the case for old WordPress websites where any of the themes and plugins you have could be the culprit.

Never seen that one before among the countless hosts I`ve tried, you got any examples of hosts that uses this add-on method? Would love to see.

Ok, so money hungry hosts, never used any of them as I don`t like their business vibe. Thanks for the links though, one is never to old to learn something new .. =)

I clicked in here expecting this to be about a forum member here or on the other forum, almost certain I remember a member with that name haha

You might be thinking of PHPInjected. He wrote up a lot of good guides on the other forum and was really good to work when he was a volunteer moderator.

Ah yes you're spot on, Z! Yeah he was good dude and a smart one.

Yeah, and a hell of a mood sometimes, kind of unstable poor soul.

Fuckkk... Honestly all of these hosts are so much more expensive than polish ones, I don't even bother with international pop ones at this point. I get that maybe someone needs some specific functionality or a stronger server, depends what you're running, but for basic sites these eng-lang hosts are just overpriced. *thinks* Oh, now I get why I get paid less than an indian. Hahahaha. The rates are low. *cough*
