Health Ok so I bought this natural ADD / concentration supplement from iHerb

I medicate my ADHD the ol' fashioned way. Excessive amounts of coffee and tobacco. Looking forward to hearing how the supplements work out. When I was younger they put me on Ritalin and it caused all sorts of side effects I did not like, but I've heard modern medicines have come a long way in treating it since then, may look into it again.

ADHD gang reporting.

I have tried L-Theanine before after reading up on it. I finished a 30-day bottle and didn't notice much of a difference.

But you tell me how it goes, I am willing to give it another go.

So far, my only recourse have been building routine and introducing tiny instant gratification mechanisms in my day. (I make a big deal when I complete small fragmented tasks)

This is a massive cheat code to helping with ADHD procrastination. Finding a quick 2-3 minute task to bang out. Brain goes weeee~ dopamine, suddenly you've been sitting and working for 3 hours straight without break.

It can be be hard sometimes though just to find and get that 2-3 minute task done in the first place, especially if it's responding to an email (ugh). When I wake up and my brain starts flying a million miles an hour out the gate, I try to think of some small chunks of work I want to tackle for the day. As long as I get one of them done, it's progress.

I've been using L-Theanine for a couple years now. It does fuckall with the concentration by itself, but it smooths the caffeine curve. So basically, if you take L-Th with your coffee, you won't get that immediate spike and then nothing. You will get a prolonged, smoother effect without any jitteriness.

It really does make a difference this way.

If you want to give another "focus" thing a shot, try Lion's Mane and/or GABA. But try them one by one so you can gauge the side effects.

The mushroom?

I'll give GABA a shot too, this stupid Theanine doesn't do anything so far except spill everywhere every time I make myself a coffee.

Yes, the mushroom. Besides being rather tasty by itself, especially in soup (I find it all the time), it's also used for "head stuffs".

Conclusions: The findings tentatively suggest that Hericium erinaceus may improve speed of performance and reduce subjective stress in healthy, young adults. However, null and limited negative findings were also observed. Given the small sample size, these findings should be interpreted with caution. Further investigation in larger sample sizes is crucial, however the findings of this trial offer a promising avenue of interest.

I use this one, but it's expensive like a mf https://sk.iherb.com/pr/real-mushrooms-lion-s-mane-mushroom-extract-powder-300-capsules/115892

Interesting posts. I always associated l-theanine with relaxation that could help calm the mind and relax the body rather than sustained focus and energy. Like an evening supplement after a long day. That being said I can see how it could benefits someone with an anxious disposition. Looking forward to see the results for this use case though.

I don't know what's up with it but around October I started dropping Creatine in the coffee, because it doesn't dissolve well without heat...

I feel like if I don't have a few g's of creatine in me, I haven't got that pep in my step

I also find myself thinking with more remembering what's being thought about

Could've just mushed my brain, still.. Creatine has helped me with concentration and with planning

Goal was to put on a few sturdy KG's, now I'm a brainbox

I hear Black coffee + ghee is also whats doing the rounds lately where I saw a doctor recommend this combo

Ghee is just a clarified butter, so basically, pure fat. I don't see much of a benefit from that to be honest. Unless you seared steak in it first.

It can be like that with supplements sometimes. I've heard of some taking months to work.
And by then you can't even remember how it was before, making it impossible to have an accurate before/after, except you're too afraid to stop using this useless thing so you're stuck with buying useless nothing-powder for years.

That's why I don't like natural medicine.

Unfortunately, that’s just the way it is with some of these supplements. I’ve heard about the Lion’s Mane pills as well, and I’m actually curious to try them. However, I’ve also heard reports of people who didn’t feel any improvement for weeks and just stopped taking them. And Lion’s Mane isn’t cheap either, so I can understand someone's hesitation when they are looking at this stuff.

Obviously, there are other medications that aren’t natural, but the issue then is how you’re able to get them (which shouldn’t be a problem with the internet nowadays) and whether your body will tolerate them.

If you feel like you have any deficiencies, it may be a good idea to get a full blood work panel done. Maybe you’re lacking something that can be supplemented.

I have problems with being too fast rather than concentration. Magnesium glicynate helps me slow down. It's better than l-theanine, but I take l-theanine anyways.

I use it when I'm tired and then instead of feeling tired, I feel okay.

Forget GABA. Ask doctor for pregabalin.

How is that natural medicine? It's separated component. Try full herbs, ayurveda or tcm. Fuck, I went to google to check what that thing is... Something extracted from green tea? Bro just make yourself some tea if you like, oral health benefits as a bonus as well, don't buy separated stuff like this. Green tea sounds weak for improving brain function lol, I mean it's healthy to drink the whole thing, but for extra results try something like brahmi, don't drink it daily/permanently though because you'll fry your brain. Good to keep that in your medicine cabinet for emergencies because it's known to help repair your brain if you hit your head for example. It's a bit too strong for me though and also it's cooling herb so watch out if you already have a cold or some other disease that doesn't benefit from you suddenly getting chilly. I haven't took it in years but it definitely works.
