Let's try to keep this on point. No wild ideas or political mumbo just keep it business focused.

So there are like always rumours of things. Fuel lock downs, rationing and so on.

UK talks about trying to prioritise fuel, limits at the pumps and so on.

If and I mean IF

Any of this comes into force what are you doing as a business?

Do you think like covid you have a chance to strike and make money or do you think you are fucked?

I run an ecommece store for me I'm thinking if I can't gurantee delivery of products I can't sell or ship...

I've seen online thst amazon may add fuel surcharges soon (again how true)

Unlikc covid I'm not sure I can be arsed dealing with the total blow back from customers because we can't get orders to them in a timely manner.

People won't wait is my experience of covid it will just be an excuse.

As much as I think this could be a good time to make money when it comes to fuel and transportation I think there are too many unknowns so I might bow out of this "possible" opportunity.

I am and have been thinking while away how we could content pivot and start topics on how customers can maintain products, focus on topics now that may or will become popular, start more guided and so on.

As for selling I think it's going to be a cluster fuck.

Have you thought about it?

Got any concerns?

Have you not even considered anything or any action?

As I said I'd like to keep it a pure business talk and strategy if possible.

There's fuel shortage here but I just get charged extra for takeway because of that, sales still function normally. Well, gov made this 'no work Wednesdays' thing and then most restaurants don't work sadly but in Sri Lanka when there's a crisis there's always one restaurant that still takes orders and earns all the money that others are missing. I didn't order anything other than food recently, I have too much stuff already. I'm assuming it functions normally too maybe? But with extra charge for fuel like restaurants? It's a real concern if you're selling something, yeah.

I saw yesterday that electric second hand cars has sold a lot faster in the last month here, seems to be an effect of it, electrick bikes, scooters and so on could e an opportunity.

Local and last-mile-deliveries businesses could get an upswing maybe.

Food delivery does make you think if any of those drivers for a delivery service or a local take away invested in an Ev they could take a larger slice of the market.

Or if your local driver and you an Ev you could get a second job or work out some kind of deal where you get paid more than normal.

However the questions does rise then if you can get ingredients to that outlet in the first place..

Yeah but it still needs to process and travel through a network would gov allow big sorting machines to function if you have to conserve energy etc.

Get local there may be plenty of opportunities to be had.

Wife is considering a possible 3rd car a cheap Ev even if the range is limited so she can get to work. But this also raises the question of staff struggle to get to school will a school bus run.

I think it's going to be interesting times ahead and opportunities to be had if you can market and pivot.

Id imagine things get worse before they get better..

@t2van you mean electric vehicle? I saw some sri lankans on Reddit complain that there should be more access to these, but then others wrote the electric grid is too weak for that and I guess they have a point... Gov would have to fix the power outages first / modernize the power grid

Don't have physical product to sell but have a client, local business who is particularly worried about where things are heading regarding fuel shortages that will disrupt essential supply chains.

The only solution I have thought and designed for them all is an Interstitial on the site to inform, or rather remind visitors and customers of the situation and that their orders might be effected. Not just an alert, but a prompt too just to passively remind them that 'everyone is in this together' ie we are all effected by this, including them, and that the situation is essentially out of our hands, just to encourage more understanding.

I haven't configured it yet but have the scripts ready and will if they give me the green light to do so. Will just be watching the heat maps carefully to see how things. Hopefully it won't come to this. Will

Just on side note. I listen to a very interesting podcast that has been talking about the West's agenda to push EVs even as far back as lockdown. Just most people eother ognored ot or scoffed and dis the opposite so now it's as if they are tryong to twist peoples arms to invest in it, sicne they are the leaders in EV tech. Sorry, know you said no politics etc but I think this a large part of what is happening. No lne gave a shot about Iran's oppressive regime for like thirty tears now suddenly they spring to life to save the day? Yeah ok 🙄 Coincidence it's the worlds biggest natural gas and oil supplier? Anyway, main reason I bought this up is I think there will be an even more massive shift toward EVs even in distribution, not just personal vehicle use. It's the transition which will be chaotic for businesses.

Huh. This isn't dumb.

Yeah, we don`t rely on gas/oil to produce energy here, but sure if you live in a country that needs oil to get electricity there might be prblems with energy.

And yes, if one lives rural like you are with no electric busses and good commutes it will start being a prolem with workers maybe.

From my own personal experiences with covid.

Customers are thick. Won't read. Won't care.

All they will do is tell you how hard it is to deliver a product to them. Compare you yo Amazon. Also claim your competitor can do it so you should be able to.

Inform them but honestly they don't give a shit that's why I'm considering doing a temporary close and maybe offer pickup.

The fuel shortage is manufactured to increase the inflation (second high wave of inflation)
Ships with oil from US to Europe have changed destination to Asia
European ships with oil are near Rotterdam but not allowed to unload .

Its part of the plan for the transition and wealth transfer.
Will there be business opportunities of course but have in mind that people are losing quickly wealth and that major goods which are needed for living will get their second price explosion.
The only question is if it will already happen nearterm how its advertised or if next year .

Since its manufactured and its about centralization you don't need to fear that delivery companies wont work. They may charge more but will keep running
