vintage-mugshots-black-and-white-17.jpg

I was going through my bookmarks when I found this article I saved on vintage mugshots.

Apparently, the reason for the "cool poses" in some of these mugshots is to show others what they looked like when they were just out and about; making them easier to identify.

Men used to be so stylish
Sometimes I wonder how we went from that to this:

Plenty of men still dress stylish today, especially here in Europe.

The early 1900s Edwardian conformist "fashion" era had non-conformists just like we do today. The bohemian fashion style was looked at just as odd and weird as you perceive homeboy with the green beard and tie-dye shirt today.

You're also seeing that era through the selection bias of that time. Photography was still relatively expensive and mostly reserved for the well off, which would more likely be a white-collar worker with multiple tailored suits (much like today)... your average blue collar worker typically owned one suit and wore it on occasion as a necessity (their Sunday best), instead day to day wearing function over fashion e.g denim overalls, one piece outfits. Of course they would put on their suit if being photographed.

Personally, I'll take the freedom of expression over strict conformist sheep fashion any day.

My free outfit from aliexpress... I love it. It's so comfortable.

Well, but I dress like a girl because why not. Life too short to sit in suit to build funny and happy projects. :giggle:

Dudes nowadays: 'I'm manly because I have no style and don't know shit about fashion' - literally giving low class vibes. It's not manly, historically men high up dressed up, hell in some countries nobles even used make up, it wasn't a female-only thing. They want to appear manly and they end up sounding like low class men. In the end of the day everyone dresses the way they like but separating it into some female-only thing like some men do is very silly.

Me and RoiBox be proud of being below working class. Hell, in our own class. :giggle:

You don't need to think in categories... it's not very useful in our science.

And if we talk about categories like female-only, I choose this category. Female colors. Even this forum has female colors, purple... Because admin is... flexible... literally and figuratively.

I don't think RoiBox is below working class, though? I mean he's old and stuff but he has Wordpress agency, no? Kinda broke tho, doesn't know what a restaurant is.

Looking at how he does his stuff, I think he runs his own restaurant and gives free meals to people.
