The ignore function.

I think it works great however there is a small bug with it I think. If you ignore a member it hides the thread they last posted in.

Even if thst thread WASN'T created by the person you ignore.

I get hiding threads by that member. Even hiding posts but I don't think it needs to hide the whole thread of another member until somone else posts inside it.

Hope that makes sense.

You ignored him? 😂

Poof, now your thread insivible.

Good luck making 28th million. Eat it.

The thing is that bumps by ignored members don't push threads to the top? Did I get it right?

Everyone's favourite Friday thread... Now you know why I kept unblocking people, loosing access to Friday thread after ignoring Dopious was just too much 😂

Yeah so say you create a thread and then there's some info in there about ppc or something.

If the last reply is by a banned member that post is:

1.hidden from latest post feed
2.hidden from search unless you had a previous reply alert to open it.

I get hiding posts but to me that thread should still be in latest posts just the ignored member post is hidden.

By ignoring somone you in effect lock your self out of other people's conversations.

I know what your saying but this wasn't even about that. I was trying to find something previously and that's where I found this little niggle.

How do you see my posts?!
Because I've not ignored you yet.

Not the entire thread is hidden, but your account is blind to the latest bump, so you see it on the homepage at the position it would've been in if it weren't for the ignored member's comment.

I thought t2van ignored me after I said the truth. ;) He called it "pity party".
I really can't follow every feud, I get side tracked really easily. I can barely remember which members I don't like.

No it's hidden from the feed and forum sections unless someone else posts.

The only way to find it is if somone else posts in it or you accessed it previously.

Ignored member's threads are hidden at default regardless who posts.

But that applies to non ignored member's also if the last comment in them was made by an ignored user.

I don't even know what he's on about lol

The ignore feature shouldn't hide entire threads they've posted in, only post and threads created by that member.

I'll look into this later.

I read more of the responses in this thread today, and the issue you're describing is that content from ignored users doesn't bump the thread for you. I originally misread this and thought that any threads that an ignored user posted in became invisible, but them not getting bumped isn't the same thing.

I did look into this, and this is the default behaviour of the ignore feature. The only reasonable way I could do this is by developing a custom add-on. However, doing so might cause other issues on the forum as well and conflict with existing features, so it's just not something that should be changed.

In reopening this based on a report from @roydan.
That's not the case. I had it, too. My own thread disappeared completely from the homepage as soon as an ignored member commented despite being 2nd or 3rd prior to their comment. This is a bug.
@roydan, did it disappear just off the homepage when an ignored member commented on it, or was it removed from the subforum list as well? So, if it was a thread in the PPC section, was the thread gone from there as well?

I tested this myself, and you're right in that threads disappear from the homepage when an ignored user comments in it.

The thread was still visible in the subforum list and you can still view the thread from that list or by using a direct link.

This is a bug and just seems to have something to do with the custom homepage feed widget. We'll work on fixing this sometime over the next week since we need to identify why this is happening with the widget.

Edit: my test thread disappeared from the What's New page as well when the ignore member commented in it. It appears to be affecting feeds in general.

Edit 2: It wasn't either of the ignore add-ons.

Edit 3: The thread re-appears if a non-ignored member comments in the thread. It looks like this has something to do with the way feeds on Xenforo fetch data based on the last poster. I'll still keep looking around for possible causes.

I looked into this again today. I tried looking through the modified templates to see if it was anything we've added in there. That's still up for debate.

When I have the time to look into this again, I'm likely going to post about it on the Xenforo forums to see if anyone else has this issue or if it's just a vanilla bug that I've noticed before.
