Windows passwords alone are not a strong security measure, as they can be easily bypassed or cracked using various techniques. Therefore, it's better to encrypt your files with software that not even the best decrypt programs can access.

VeraCrypt is a powerful open-source encryption tool used to secure sensitive data by creating encrypted volumes or encrypting entire drives. It is one encryption tool that I use for my own drives as well and it is easy to manage and uses 500000 iterations whereas other encrypters such as TrueCrypt use at most 2000 iterations. It’s a great choice if you wanna protect your data & privacy as it is a free encryption solution.

I used Veracrypt for my entire drive back in the day.

Encrypting single files didn't seem secure so I did the whole PC and it didn't let you pass the boot if the password wasn't entered.

It takes more than a minute to confirm the password, so brute force isn't possible.

I was thinking of doing this when I was in college for my network administrator degree, but after that I was like 20+ password length goodluck with that.

Learned that the hard way when someone managed to RCE me through Modern Warfare 2 ( original).

These days everything foreign gets tested and used on a VM.

I have never used Veracrypt before,

I used to write passwords on diary,;) Thanks' for the share

What if you pull out the drive and plug it in another pc?!?

The drive will look like it’s unformatted or corrupted. The system might even ask you to format it. If you have Verycrypt installed on this PC you can mount the encrypted volume using the password. Once mounted, it works like a normal drive.

I like that, looks like it's closed to impenetrable, will give it a try for sure.
