So every now and then I come across a big guru and they yap about oh yeah I'm slacking the team.

Why not use something normal like Facebook messenger or discord or hentai.

Like come on man.

Id rather have my data sold to dad Zuckerberg anyway, right?

My iq is single digits yes but what's the benefit of slack when there's free alternatives.

Slack is pretty cool speaking as a bald business man.

No joke though Slack feels faster than shit like Teams. You can even make custom emojis on it like with your own images Teams instead of being stuck with just the defaults.

Slack is brilliant.

Easy to group up departments in channels so everyone can communicate and then you can create other channels where department heads can talk and meet.

It's very good and more flexible than say messenger or whats app I think, plus it keeps everything away and business talk in a business app. I don't need to worry about business chats getting muddled up with personal ones and visa vera.

Connect with various apps to share files,, meetings, see who's working where and when. The direct DM feature lets staff reach out to me directly without the need to send an email, problems can be flagged and dealt with in team channels.

Honestly since I switched the business model to remote working after covid slack has been a life saver, I am very much a fan.


I think if it's just you, then yeah there are better alternatives and probably a waste of time.

When I worked for BHW, I had to use Slack until they switched to Microsoft Teams. It was mainly used by the in-house staff between about 2018 to 2021, although those who were moderators-in-training may remember the MIT Slack group as well.

Because of that job, I often compare Slack to Microsoft Teams. I really liked how communication felt on Slack. As @Baldilocks said, adding custom emojis was fun. What I didn't like, however, was the lack of organisation for files shared on Slack. I don't know if they ever addressed that issue, but file organisation was one area I felt Microsoft Teams was superior. Slack also felt less secure overall back then, but again, maybe they fix those issues.

To this day, I still prefer Slack to Teams overall.
